Hi folks :)
I have only ever had one lucid dream - that I can remember and I had it at the end of august last year. I'm not totally convinced it was a proper lucid dream but I'm sure I'll understand if it was better after I've spent some time here looking round the website and reading some of the information.
At the time i knew it had to be quite an important dream,I acutally wrote that in my comments, because it was the first time I could remember saying I knew I was dreaming in a dream. But at the time I couldn't really make any sense of it so I just forgot about it.
Over the past couple of days I've been transferring my dreams into a software program and I started to read this dream and it relates to something that is going on right now. If I would have had that dream anytime over the past couple of weeks i have seen how it is representing something now!
I've never been into the idea of developing lucid dreaming, I would be happy enough to just get some understanding of how my dreams are trying to guide me/help me. But it seems lucid dreaming seems to be a bit of a theme at the moment, so I'm being open to the possibilities :)
Thanks for a great site peeps and I'm very much looking forward to spending some time here :D

Hey sirius! :welcome: to DreamViews.
Yeah, I know a lot of people here talk about lucid dreaming as the main topic of discussion but there is also a great community based around dreaming in general. Usually what happens here (well at least to my knowledge) is that most people try to develop their dreams first by trying to increase vividness and recall. Then when people understand the meaning of their dreams and have a quite developed knowledge of dreams in general they try more challenging ideas such as lucid dreaming.
Anyway, welcome again and hope you enjoy your time. Puffin and some more knowledgeable people are probably going to show up in a minute and they can definitely give you some good advice and answer any questions you have. :P

Quantiq, you have correctly predicted my arrival.
:welcome: to the Dreamviews forums, sirius60! Telling where you had a lucid dream or not is actually quite straightforward - for it to be a lucid, you have to be aware that you're in a dream, acknowledging that you're asleep. Often this comes with excitement, and a feeling of freedom, but it can also involve other emotions such as fear and uncertainty. But the good thing about lucid dreaming is that as you have them, it gets less and less daunting!
Dreams tend to become harder to remember as time goes on, so if you have one, it's important to write it down (even if it's just a scrawl of key words and phrases). Being able to remember your dreams is pretty important because your normal dream recall is directly related to the recall of your lucid ones! So dream journaling is definitely a big part of LDing.
If you have any questions, feel free to post (or, send me a private message).
