New here/sharing experiances
Hello,
i'm new here and just happened to find this website after looking around on howstuffworks.com.
I overall have had only one dream which i remember being lucid. I woke up and immediantly told everyone i saw about it and therefore have remembered it to this day. Now i've run into a couple questions about actually making these dreams happen.
first, often in my dreams (this happened in teh lucid one too) the surroundings are where i have been before, but dramatically altered. for example i dream i'm in science class but the classroom is different. then i may dream about the beach but there is a huge trench on the beach!!!! i wondered why this is was happening so much
second, about trying to go to sleep trying to remember dreams. i mean as in thinking about dreams while going to sleep. the 2 times i tried it i could tell i was sinking into sleep but i was filled with blind terror about...well...nothing. i wasn't afraid of nightmares (i've never had one) i just felt like i was losing control. then i woke myself up. it was wierd, is this normal? it wasn't a dream it just was like i was sinking and then BAND i was awake.
thanks for anything....

First off, welcome to Dreamviews... Loads have come via howstuffworks by now. Great site, too many ads though.

Never really heard of that. Could be just because you've made a point of noticing that this happens, your brain always does it.

Probably just fear of the unknown? It can be unsettling, but just think that no harm will ever come to you.

Welcome to DV, Sith! I also found this site at howstuffworks.com! Facinating site :D
Anyway, the changes in your surroundings are known as dream signs. It's helpful to look for signs that happen often enough that you could potentially see that sign again and realize you're dreaming. Like, some time in a dream you can just say, "Woah, there's a trench in the middle of the beach for no reason! I must be dreaming." In dreams, perception is whatever your subconscious makes it out to be based on the events of your waking life. That's why so many things appear so odd.
As to your second... situation, it sounded like you were on your way to a WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dream). I'd suggest checking out the WILD tutorial and seeing if that could help you. I only remember one time where I've felt that sinking feeling, but I was sitting up (almost hypnotized) when it happened. I wish it would happen again, because I'd also like to see if could relinquish that control. But anyway.... :P
If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Sweet lucid dreams!
