I here that as you get better at it you can do it in about 10-15 minutes, but for the times I've done it: was 3 in an hour and a half, one in about 40-50 minutes, and then one really bad one taking about 2 hours (i've done more, but once I fail getting in I just go to sleep and don't focus on how long it took)
My first one surprisingly took 15 minutes. And then usually after it took me 30 minutes. But now that I'm better at WILDing, about 10-15 minutes
As it is with everything in life, it depends. :P
SP can come within seconds (for example if you've just woken up from a dream and close your eyes again, AKA a DEILD), or it can take up to an hour or more (if you're extremely patient). It varies with each individual, but it also varies with each attempt. Sometimes you're very tired and SP comes quickly, other times your body is too awake and it takes a long time. With practice you'll learn what the best times for you to WILD are and once you've mastered WILD, you'll probably get to SP within 10 or 15 minutes.
Naiya's completely right, its different for everyone, me personally I've had times where I get into SP in 20 minutes, and other times where I was restless and it took longer than an hour at which point I usually give up.
can you WILD before you go to sleep?
You can reach SP before you go to sleep, but depending on your current biological clock you may not enter your REM stage. (meaning no dreams!)
Therefore it is possible, but unlikely.
Personally (After practicing it for months) 5-10 minutes. Maybe shorter.
Not recommended! Check out my WILD guide for more info.
I think my excitement for my first LD since joining is totally messing me up. Last night, I started to slip into SP pretty quickly (5 min or so). I was trying MILDing and I found an apparently really awesome position (for me at least) because I started to slip into SP really quickly. My body started to feel light and heavy at the same time, kind of like I was sinking into the bed. Then parts of my body started tingling. Then I said "Holy $#!+!! This is awesome. I'm about to hit SP!" and guess what... that anxiousness snapped me out of it. This happened several times last night and this morn. Bah!
Usually about 10 to 15 minutes, but it differs based on a wide range of factors: how awake you are, your diet, your stress, time of night, plus random fluxuation caused by nothing.
I too have been concerned on SP. I'm fairly new, but the one time I successfully WILDed, I got lucky. I did the normal relaxation stuff for about 10 minutes, and then turned over on my side as instructed by KingYoshi. I had given up and decided I wanted to sleep. I then found myself in HHbut rushed a dream scene and slipped out. I did this at 11pm, no waking up in the middle of the night. I too was wondering, anyone got some good tips to fall into SP quickly?
Usually 20-30 minutes during a nap; sometimes longer if I'm not relaxed.
Now, as for trying to get into SP in the middle of the night... whew, it took a good 40 minutes or so in the (very) few instances I tried it at that time. But that's okay - I'm not the kind of person who enjoys getting hallucinations and weird sensations in the dark, I prefer entering SP during the day.
Yeah about 30 minutes if I'm not in REM, (so it's pretty useless trying anyway) and about 15 minutes when WBTB.
Haha, HH freaks me out aswell, but when I plug my music in, I don't really notice the noises, which is the most scary bit!
:D
