Thumbs up Some things you might find interesting. Or not.

Hey guys, I finally decided to actually register here after about 2 months of lurking on and off.

About 2 months ago I heard about Lucid Dreaming by chance, and was very excited by the idea. I spent the first few nights reading all about it, everything I could find on the subject. After about 4 nights I had my first 'Lucid' experience. I had a brief moment of clarity within my dream, followed very shortly by a false awakening. Being new to this, I wasn't yet ready for that, and fell back into the dream. In that same dream this occured 4 more times, each followed by a false awakening back into the same dream I had been having before become Lucid.

Despite this I was extremely excited, and continued attempted to attain Lucidity. I even entered Sleep Paralysis on my first attempt, however the sensation for me personally was rather uncomfortable and I freaked out.

I didn't have any luck for a few weeks, and then one night, I had another 'Lucid' experience, followed seconds later, again, by a false awakening, which I did not recognise.

It's been about a month since then with no such luck, My insomnia has gotten worse again lately, so I have been taking sleeping tablets to help. Contrary to what I read on the subject, I found the sleeping tablets, however strong, did not hinder my dream recall. A few nights ago after having a sleeping tablet, I had my longest Lucid experience yet.

I'm not quite sure how it happened, but for some reason during a dream (in which I was lying in bed in the morning) something in my mind clicked and I thought to myself 'I'm dreaming right now'. It was not followed by a false awakening. However, (and I'm not sure about this reasoning, so please correct me) probably because of the sleeping pill, In my dream I felt extremely tired, infact I was having trouble keeping my eyes open. I managed to do a few RC's, my hand had several more fingers than it should have. I looked at the clock on my computer, it said '11:28'. I looked away, expected to see a different time, and looked back. it still said '11:28'. I didn't worry about it though because I was already sure I was dreaming... then I lost lucidity.

So yeah, if you managed to get through that wall of text, and have any opinions or tips for me, I'd really appreciate it.

      Cheers,
      Max

If you are new I advise this...
Go to sleep around about the same time every night.
Start Dream Journal (Improve Recall) > Reality Check in the day + All Day Awareness > DILD > Mantra before bed > MILD > stay still when you wake up > DEILD.
      Tutorials below.

Acronym List - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views (This is what all the abbreviations mean)

Remember that you are DREAMING! ur body cant tell u if ur tired or not. tell urself that u r dreaming.

and about the false awakenings, start a habit of doing a reality check bfor and after going to sleep, and it should happen in a falase awakening

Do you know what is in your sleeping pills? Some sleeping pills only last for the first few hours of your sleep. They may suppress your dreams in the early night, so you get some crazy rebound later in the night.

Thanks for the tips and info guys, that cleared a few things up for me

And Robot_Butler, I'm not sure what is in them, I'm 17 and living at home still, my mother feels she needs to take it upon herself to withhold the tablets 'in-case I become addicted to them'. In other words, I only ever get the tablets, not the packaging.

Surely you can find out what you are taking, without having more pills.
