      Beginers.

i know i shouldnt call myself a begginer since ive had this account for like three months, but i only had one lucid dream.
whats the best method for beginners?
i tried that one where you imagine becoming lucid but its worthless because it takes me a long time to fall asleep.
      thanks

The technique you see like "worthless" sounds like MILD. Is that right?
It also takes me long time for falling asleep, so I often spent 10 minuttes on daydreaming, and calm down, and then 10 minuttes listening to relaxing music, almost always binaural beats. After that, I'm so tired, that I almost fall asleep before doing MILD!

There isn't any "best" technique, because it depends on the person, and is different from person to person. But MILD is pretty simple, and effective, and recommed as a good beginner technique. I also think WBTB is very important, especially for my dream recall. And DILD is also a wonderful technique, and pretty easy and simple.

So, that's what I think. I hope I could help.
Good luck. If.you keep training, you'll get your next lucid dream soon. If not tonight.

      Welcome to dreamviews,
I recommend that you attempt either a DILD/MILD or both at the same time.
Its good to see you have started a dream journal, I recommend entering it daily.
What you tried was a mantra, you don't need to do it until you fall asleep, just for about 5 mins so that it stays in your head.
Here is my useful links list, I recommend checking them out.

Exactly. No technique is better than any other. It all just depends on you and what technique fits you the best.

Look at these descriptions of all the techniques. What appeals to you the most? Which one can you fit into your daily life? That's the one you want to choose.

Although there is no best technique, MILD and DILD are the two techniques with the highest success rate. Good luck and stick with it!

If you have a hard time falling asleep at night, don't make it worse by stressing about lucid dreaming. The best time to try anything like MILD or WILD is after 4 or 5 hours of sleep. Wake yourself up in the middle of the night so you are extremely tired and can fall back to sleep easily.

You don't always have to use an alarm to wake yourself up in the middle of the night. Try drinking a ton of water right before bed, to wake up naturally.

This is probably decent advice. The thing is that if you wake up, even if you have to go pee or whatever, you are best off going back into a really relaxed mindset, and enjoy. Sometimes people get anxious over why they woke up, or if they can back to sleep again. The trick is to let your subconscious dreaming mind do its thing and play with it and enjoy it.

      ^ If anything, it's ironic.

MILD is definitely one of the most popular techniques for beginners, although most people try DILD or WILD/DEILD right along with it, because MILD can sometimes seem like more of a supplementary technique. If you get good at it, though (as with any other technique), you could be having lucids every night. Like Mancon said, it's all about which one suits you the best.

About getting up in the middle of the night and the possibility of losing sleep, you probably won't be awake for more than a few minutes, depending on how long it takes you to mentally wake up enough to WILD. Unless, of course, you're just doing a regular WBTB, in which case you just have to do some RCs, look around, and maybe do some logic problems before going back to bed.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I'm on top on a bunk bed when I sleep, do you think I can still do the drinking a lot of water technique?

I don't think it is THAT crazy. Lucid dreaming is awesome, and I think it is worth it to wake up a few minutes during the night to have one.

Yes you could, as long as you don't think you will wake up the other person when you get up.

I also thought it was weird in the beginning, but I'm so glad, that I did it anyway. Already after a week, I could feel positive changes. It's important for my recall, and the LDs I've had was after the waking moment, where I only spent 10 minuttes listening to binaural beats. 10 minuttes, my friend. That's all for something so amazing. And you just have to do it a few minuttes, if 10 is too long.

By the way, you wake up in the night after your REM sleep anyway, but you can't remember it. So it actually doesn't matter, if you use a few minuttes on being awake.

      Happy dreams!
