Just Want to Say" Hi"!
Hi!
So, I've always had an interest in lucid dreaming. I mean, what's not to love? Lucid dreaming allows you to experience the extraordinary and explore various abilities, worlds, etc. that you simply can't experience in the real world. It is also a means for a writer like myself to visit the worlds I've created, visit the characters I've imagined, and in so doing, perhaps gain inspiration.
When I was younger, I could lucid dream almost every night of the week just by chanting "I am dreaming" as I fell asleep. The problem was that while I often recognized when I was dreaming, I had very poor control over my lucid dreams. Soon after trying to alter my environment, I'd find myself in a nightmare. Either horrible creatures would come out of the wood work or I'd simply get that "evil" feeling we sometimes have in dreams, when we just know something horrible is about to happen. For a while, all my lucid dreams turned into nightmares and I stopped trying to lucid dream for a while. It was just too terrifying, and I always had to wake myself up to escape the dream. I soon lost the ability to lucid dream on command. Now, I'd like to learn to lucid dream again, gain control, and hopefully avoid letting my fears get the best of me. Here's hoping!

Hi ThePilgrim, Welcome to Dreamviews! Glad you found this website ;)
How long have you know about lucid dreaming? From your post it seems like a while. Lucid dreaming is definitely amazing, and will help you become a better writer. Talking to characters you have though up is awesome. When you become lucid you have to remember it is YOUR dream and you are in complete control of it. Being confident goes a long way.
The first thing you should focus on before you try lucid dreaming is your recall. Once you can remember at least a dream a night you can try one of the main techniques to attain lucidity. You can find helpful tutorials for each of these techniques all around the site. I recommend you read Puffin's Beginners Guide to Lucid Dreaming for some basic info and how to get back into lucid dreaming again.
Anyway good luck getting back into it! I hope to see you posting around the forums :)

Hi there my friend.
Glad you've joined DV. You're indeed right, what's NOT to love in Lucid Dreaming? Now I see that you have some control issues, I suggest you read the Dream Control Tutorial and Dream Stabilization Tutorial To learn how to control and stabilize your dreams respectively. And just like what Mancon said, don't forget to read http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-116237/ , it's a must-read article. If you do have some questions, feel free to ask by either posting a forum thread or messaging any of the dream guides(title given to a person expert in LDing) listed here in this Dream Guide List, or you can also go to the chatroom to ask the DV folks there. Hope this helps :)

It's great that you want to start lucid dreaming again. I find it's a bit tricky, especially for me, since never got into dreams until I was 17. But you're lucky that you had these experiences when you were younger. I think they really give you an advantage because you might be familiar with all of this already. Good Luck and check out some of the links Mancon gave you. Those are some great tutorials that we have posted here.
Cheers! :)

Welcome, Pilgrim! Glad to have you here!
I'm going through kind of a dry spell myself. I usually have no trouble at all remembering my dreams but lately I've been waking up and drawing a blank. Don't know why and it's got me stumped, especially since I'm doing regular RC's throughout the day and affirmations as I go to sleep at night. Maybe I'm trying too hard? I dunno.
I didn't even learn about lucid dreaming until last year and I'm almost 50. Wish I had known about it 30 years ago. Because of that, I've made sure to tell all three of my kids about lucid dreaming and was surprised to find out that not only did my oldest daughter already know about it, but she has had quite a few and has even flown! Needless to say, I'm jealous...lol.
