Awareness
Hey guys I was just wondering which method has proved most successful for you(if you've tried them that is) out of DILDS and MILDS. I only ask because both of my lucid dreams have been through me knowing that something was wrong with the dream and I think that is from all day awareness. Anyway I just want to know what method I should really be focusing on.

I'm not talking out of experience, but I'm pretty sure one of the answers you'll get is to keep a dream journal.
Whenever you wake up, lie completely still in your bed with your eyes shut and try to remember your dream in detail. Then, when you've remembered as much as you possible can, write your dream down in a book, or a piece of paper. Things like: What happened? Who were in it? Where were you?
After you've written this down, read through it and make a list of dream signs, things that you don't see happening in real life, it could be anything from your face being different (color, shape, scale etc.) to the skies being green or people flying.
After you've collected a couple of dreams, read over all your dream signs and memorize them good, so that if any of these things were to happen in your next dream, you will realize that you are dreaming.
Making reality checks while you're awake a habit will also help; pinch your nose and try to breathe through it(in or out), look at your hands (just doing the motion and looking at them isn't enough, think about what you're doing, really look at them, count them. If you only do the motions in the dream without thinking about it, chances are you won't realize you're dreaming.), try pushing your right index finger through your left palm, if it goes through, you're dreaming. There are a lot of reality checks you can try out there, but blowing through your nose is definitely the most reliable!
Hope this helped answer your question. At least until someone more experienced comes along :)

Awareness in a dream is really the definition of lucidity, so awareness can cause LDs just by itself.
I use SAT which involves awareness and it's worked far better than doing hundreds of habitual reality checks. RCs are useful, but they're more often used as a confirmation that you're dreaming, and not so much to cause the actual lucidity. However, doing RCs can also be a great vehicle to promote your awareness because if you really slow down to see whether you're dreaming, you've also got some of the awareness going, along with grounding how to do an RC in your mind. I remember that I stopped practicing RCs for a short while; during this time I went lucid but I forgot how to do one! My consciousness in the dream was higher so I still knew I was dreaming even without the RC, but if I had lower awareness I may have lost the LD.

Hi there my friend,
I would really suggest you go for DILD since you've stated that all of your LD were attained through ADA. But to clear-up everything, ADA is a DILD itself. So that means you're already doing a DILD. To know more about DILD, I recommend you take a look at Puffin's DILD Tutorial or King Yoshi's DILD Tutorial. If you've got questions, feel free to reply back. Hope this helps :)

Everyone is different as far as what works best for them, so you may have to try a few before you settle on something. Having said that, MILD is a great method for beginners. The vast majority of my lucids have been MILDs. It's very easy to do and is a reliable method. ;)

I would read up on both puffins SAT and other techniques which involve being aware. Doing habitual RC's didn't work too well for me, in fact I started having more LD when I stopped doing a mindless RC every few minutes, and instead started combining SAT with WBTB. Try drinking water before sleep, so that you wake up naturally after REM to go to the washroom, remember the dream and try to become aware to the point that your not groggy anymore, perform your MILD tech or whatever as well as SAT and go back to sleep. Good luck! :)
