First Attempt At Recall. On The Verge Of LD?

My first attempt at recalling my dreams was quite successful! I recalled 2 different fragments as well as remembering hearing many voices and even being able to identify 2 of them!

I felt myself fall under sleep paralysis, and I think I even stumbled upon a small LD experience :eek:

So I fell asleep today repeating my mantra "I will remember my dreams" and it worked really well, i actually felt myself fall under sleep paralysis and i experienced some things that i would attribute to SP (traveling body tremors, voices and a deep loud tone descending in pitch). All the while still conscious and repeating my mantra.

This is the cool part.

Out of the blackness, a shot of webbing comes flying at my face! I distinctly remember "turning my head" to look over to find spiderman fighting venom in what looked like a bank. Now i say its the cool part because up until then i was only experiencing the SP but when the web shot across, i remember the feeling of turning my head as if i was in the actual world. This was the only movement i was able to preform. i only watched the battle for a few seconds, maybe a minute or two, before i thought to myself "i have to remember this" i think this distracted me out of the dream and brought me back to my physical body. i recalled what i could and jotted it down in my DJ.

I was able to recall one more fragment, but this was the most exciting moment of the night.

So what do you guys think? Did i experience lucidity in that moment when i turned my head to look? there were times when i was consciously thinking of trying to move, but i couldnt tell if i would be moving my "real" body or my dream body so i chose not to move in case it would shoot me out of the SP/dream. i also thought about talking, but didnt, for the same reason. should i have tried to move? should i have tried speaking?

The moment i was truly aware i was in a dream, i immediately thought to myself "i have to remember this". and it was at that time, i fell out of the dream. What could i have done differently, instead of repeating my mantra, that might have helped me stay in my dream? even if i wasnt lucid, i would have liked to continue watching the scene.

I now see what a large role my hobbies play in creating my dream world. It figures being a huge comic book reader, that my first 2 recalled dreeam fragments are of spiderman and batman :p

First you need to learn to remember your dreams, to know that you are a little aware of the dreams. And it seems like you were very aware of your dream!
So I would say that you were close.

But the hard part with lucid dreaming is not to become "aware" of a dream, because that you can pracctise and it seems like you were very aware of your dream.
But the hard part is to really become lucid and realise that what you are experiencing in fact is a dream! For example you don't even think to yourself right now "Hmm I might be dreaming." You are still aware of your surroundings, but you are not AWARE.

And this is what takes pracctise. But a solution could be, that you tell yourself that you are going to be aware in this kind of way the next time you dream.
You can either do a reality check to really test it or just pracctise your dreamy (subconscious) awareness until you succeed so you know the different sensations of awareness.

I would say, just keep pracctising because you were close.

Remember that you can still be very aware of the dream, as aware as you are now. But you don't realise that you are dreaming.
And then you are not lucid, but dreaming aware. So be proud of this attempt, because you were aware and almost lucid.

Seems like you were really close to fully being lucid and then you sort of got distracted by the feeling of having to remember what you are experiencing, from what I read it seems like a WILD transition is what you were undergoing and had you remained calm and focused, you would have entered the dream fully lucid.

Cool, thanks for the input. I'm hoping for better results tonight. I definitely wasn't expecting such a strong experience on my first attempt. My plan was at least a week or two of strictly recalling into my DJ. But if my brain wants to send me flying off into a battle between spidey and venom, so be it. I'll be ready this time.
