I suggest you start by reading Puffin's Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming. This guide covers the basics of lucid dreaming, as well as how to get started.
Seeing how you like to write and create visual art and music, I'm sure you'll enjoy the world of lucid dreaming a lot. Lucid dreaming can be a great source of inspiration.
