How do i actually dream?
Im new to this, but it seems really interesting and id like to get started.
I dont know if i dream or not every night, i had a dream a couple of days ago but i dont remember dreams the next morning if i do have them? Can i force myself to dream and remember them?

Everyone dreams every night, we just don't remember all/if any of them.
Try starting out with a dream journal, keep a notebook, a voice recorder, or whatever you want to record your dreams. Anytime you wake up in the night write what you remember down, it doesn't have to be in complete detail. I usually just scribble down the main idea. Doing this, you remember them later.
And when you wake up, in the morning write down anything else you remember.
Doing this will help you with your dream recall :)

The thing is, when i wake up in the morning i have no idea if i dreamt or not because i dont remember anything. Of course once in a while ill remember a dream, but not nearly enough to think of keeping a dream journal. Is there something i can do before bed or while in bed to help remember dreams? Right now im not worried about lucid dreaming, just dreaming in general. I just want to be able to consistently remember dreams a couple times a week, then i can move on to lucid dreaming.

If you're struggling, make sure you have a positive attitude. Before I started, I could not remember anything at all. Before you go to bed, tell yourself that you will remember your dreams. I know it sounds a bit silly, but it works. Also, when you wake up, relax before you start your day and set some time aside to lie in bed and recall your dreams. Even if you remember only a tiny snippet or mood, milk it for all it's worth. When you get out of bed, write that snippet down! A bit later into your day, refer to it! Eventually you'll remember more and more of your dreams. And, once you believe yourself to have moderately good recall, you're ready to begin lucid dreaming.

Hey Welcome to DV
As said above EVERYONE dreams everynight and that includes you, Keeping a dream journal is a fantastic thing to do, but also, when you wake up, try not to move, keep your eyes closed and just "think" and fragments may come flowing back to you, once we "move" after we wake up we really reduce the chance of remebering a dream because your mind starts focusing on the Real Life tasks at hand.
Aside from that, Stay motivated and optimistic :)

You can go to the Dream Tube in the navigation bar at the very top and look up tutorials on various techniques of lucid dreaming. =) Welcome .

Im not worried about Lucid Dreaming yet, Castles, just dreaming in general, like i said before, i tend to just go to sleep and wake up in the morning. I dont recall if i dreamed or not. But as people saying, and as im now learning, i dream everynight i just dont know it and dont remember it.

Welcome to Dream Views, Extuhsee! :welcome:
There are a lot of different factors that help determine whether or not we can remember our dreams. The key is identifying these factors, and learning how to control them. To name a few:
- How much sleep you get a night will play a role. The more you sleep, the longer and stronger your REM periods will become. This means that you will have much more potent and lengthy dream content to remember, once you wake.
- Mentally preparing yourself to remember your dreams when you go to sleep. Whenever you go to bed, start setting in your mind (commanding yourself) that "I will remember my dreams, when I wake up." Stick to that resolve. It needs to become a habit to the degree where, when you wake up, lying completely still and trying to remember your dreams for a good few moments becomes instinctual.
- Start keeping a journal, if you don't have. Even if you only remember a single image or concept, write it down. When you wake up, try not to get too involved in anything else. Just try to remember anything about what you'd been dreaming - any little thing - that you can, for the first couple of minutes upon waking.
These are probably the most important ways to learn to start remembering your dreams. Try them out for a couple of weeks, and I can almost guarantee you'll start remembering more.

:welcome: You dream about 4 times a night. EVERY night. Most dreams you don't remember, even veterans like me rarely remember early dreams because usually you go from dream, back into deep sleep without ever waking. You remember the dreams before you wake up.
Try staying perfectly still and closing your eyes. Your brain thinks you are going back to sleep, it will turn your dream memory back on, your last dream should come back.
