Even after trying all kinds of techniques and religiously writing down all dream-related progress, I still can't even remember my dreams, much less get lucid in them. I'm always either too tired or not tired enough, I get too excited, or the fear of SP gets the better of me. I'm not sure if all the disappointment is worth it. |

The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.
Also, how long have you been trying? Most people take a few months to be adept at lucid dreaming, some a few days, some eight years! (we have such a member) I was off and on about lucid dreaming. Just started back into it again a few weeks ago and improving dream recall right now. |

Could it be, so plain to see, the night is still so young for me.

Calm down, relax, meditate, and chill. I have the same fear you do and its taking me awhile to get lucid dreams. Sometimes I fear of having them sometimes I don't. You just need to relax and think positive thoughts. Then you will eventually have a lucid dream. Check out the tutorials on this site and ask around for help from other members. I'm thinking about waiting awhile until I get back into lucid dreaming. Good luck with your lucids! |

2 things that really work for me is just getting into the right timing mentally, physically and spiritually - getting in that frame of mind while meditating. And I meditate to my favorite music that I like... which is kind of obscure old Spanish guitar music. |

I can't say I know how you feel, I had my first LD 4 days after I started trying, I've been an LD'er for a little more than 2 months, ive had about 12 LD's, I think this is what helped, for those 4 days, every spare minute I had was spent researching EVERYTHING I could find about lucid dreaming, I forced my brain into acknowledging lucid dreams. The thing was, I didn't just force myself to keep looking up thing after thing, I HAD TO, I would be depressed until I had the chance to use the net for learning new thing about LD's, and if that still doesn't work, force yourself to take a break, within a week you will have had a lucid dream, this is because your brain directs more energy to things you concentrate on, this can be good for those 3rd eye techniques (the 3rd eye is that bump over your nose between your eyes, it has some sort of chemical that has something to do with dreams), where energy directed to the 3rd eye makes it more useful, but if you keep concentrating on dreaming, well, being relaxed is a key thing to helping you achieve your goal, I had a very vivid LD 4 days after I started my break because I had to concentrate on exams (I was also loosing motivation, but that's besides the point ). So what I'm trying to say is, be patient, level your concentrtion, and you will succeed |

If I were you, I'd start it all by trying to improve my recall. Do whatever you can to improve it, but remember, stress and pressure has a negative effect. Set alarms that goes off when you're in REM or just after it, do some REM rebounds, lie still in bed with your eyes closed and wait each and every morning to try to remember something. Any kind of fragment is good enough. Try to put those fragments in scenarios if you don't get more than that. REM rebounds are great for dreams, also sleeping in as much as you can. Even taking vitamin supplements can make you start dreaming. |

Thank you all for your advice. I realize that I've been beating myself up for not having success and trying too hard to do something that requires relaxation and a calm mind. I'll keep at it. : ] |
