      Psychic dangers for me?

      Hi everyone

I have a very urgent question to ask since I have decided to start with the LD-training as soon as possible. But I have a problem and hope at least some of you guys can help me:

One year ago I was watching a horror movie ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") together with a girl friend of mine and I was horrified by it. Previously I had read some information about the film wich said that it is based on true happenings which occured in the 1960s in Germany. I am not religious yet the movie scared the crap out of me because it all really happened to a girl in real life and after all this years her case remained unexplained.
Anyways, I have realised that ever since I watched it, I became paranoid and scared of the night and that fear hasn't faded away for over one year.

      So here's my question:

Though LD means that one can control his dreams, could it be dangerous for me to do it? I know that one is able to control his actions and his dream but what if I see Emily Rose in the dream and though she's not real she will surely seem very vivid to me. Could it cause damage to me and my psych if I encounter her and my fear groes bigger and bigger?

I hope you understood my question because my English is pretty poor.
      Thanks for your help!!

Dangerous? I think LD's might be just the thing for you!

Why? Because they will enable you to deal with an Emily Rose dream character, should it appear in your dream, thus giving you a chance to avoid more fear, One of the real values of lucid dreaming is nightmare control, and I think your problem might be able to fit into that category. So, maybe as a lucid dreamer you'll be able to help your fear grow smaller and smaller, even in waking life.

Also, for what it is worth, keep in mind that the movie based on actual events is often very different than the real events themselves. You might look up the Emily Rose case (if there is one), and see what really happened. More understanding might help your fears.

Thank you! I had no idea that LD could actually even help me to deal with my fear (though I was hoping to receive such a positive answer ).

If lucid dreaming was dangerous, then normal dreaming is dangerous. Lucid dreaming is just knowing your dreaming, so better to know your asleep then thinking it's all real during a normal dream.

Lucid dreaming is totally safe Astral Projection is another story, in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry too much, actually. I'm quite paranoid too, afraid of shadows in the dark and such, but my lucid dreams liberate me from fears. The sheer joy alone is usually enough, I feel so free and in-control. And fright-creature that appears will get a beat-up it'll never forget

If you see Emily rose and she bothers you, imagine a machete in your hand. *reads the rest of thread* ohwait that's me...

Oh... Lucid dreaming would be good for you since if you dream about her normally u think it's real, but if it's a lucid dream you know it's not real and you can stand up to your subconscious and try and eliminate your fear that way

I think I'm the only one who became suddenly fearless when I LD?
My first LD was in a dark temple, which I tried to get in without caring what horror could await inside (I failed though)
When I recalled my dream in the morning, I feel a shiver thinking of the ambient sound and the lonely feeling in there.

But wait, aren't you like, able to control your dream? I mean, you could've wished the temple was bright and full of candy, right?

Lol, I fail at imagining myself with a machete haha but thanks, it's nice to see people telling me that I don't have to fear anything, since I'm the boss in my own head!!

Yes, you can do that, but some people have a hard time imagining that. That's why some people practice dream control during a lucid dream. Also, some people like the adventure and keep things dark and mysterious.

      Embracing Your Fear

Read this blog post. It is a parallel to your situation. The movie that scared her was nightmare on elm street, and the character that kept showing up in her dreams was Freddie Krueger. She talks about how she faced this fear in her dreams.

I was interested by the silence of it, so I decided not to change anything.

LDing isn't dangerous. It can help you to overcome your fear. Moreover Emily Rose is a good dreamsign for you.
PS: Your English is great (al least better than mine).
Edit: Welcome! I wish you many happy LDs.

you can NOT get scared when you are lucid.. even if you want to xD ! because if you realise that you are dreaming, it will be like you are playing a video game, knowing nothing can harm you.. And why would you even fight with Emily Rose (i don't even know who is she) , maybe you can make friends with her xD ? Ask her to tell you a true story.. long time ago i stopped having nightmares, by making friends with my enemies.. So all the skeletons, zombies and other creatures, would actually follow me, and assist me during other dreams :] !

p.s. Welcome to DV and i hope you become a GREAT lucid dreamer ! (and you will, only if you want to, and you do want, so NO problem here )

You will have nightmares whether or not you are lucid. You have a better chance of confronting them if you have experience with dream control and lucid dreaming.
