Need Help With the WILD Technique!

So I was trying the WILD technique last night and I entered sleep paralysis. After a while I started feeling like my bed was shaking, but I knew it wasn't. Then all of a sudden my eyes started to rapidly blink. I think this was the beginning of REM but I'm not sure. I was unaware what was going on so I got out of sleep paralysis and woke up.

Can someone please tell me when your eyes stop blinking and you start dreaming? I think I was very, very close. I had lucid dreams in the past and OBE's but not willingly lol.

You've definitely experienced SP(Sleep Paralysis). SP is often accommodated by weird effects called Hypnagogic Hallucinations which may take various forms like deafening sounds, scary visuals and other strange stuff, including the rapid blinking of your eyes. This phase of the WILD is the most trickiest part. SP is also known as the gateway to the land of dreams. When you start experiencing SP and its weird effects, there are two ways for you to enter the dreamland. The first option is to just wait for SP to stop. When it stops, slowly get up from your bed, and do an RC to know wether your attempt was successful or not. The second option: while experiencing SP, use your imagination and think of the dream setting you want to be in. If you think the the dream setting is good enough, start engaging yourself into it. Agreed, this was definitely SP. However, i've never had this rapid blinking when WILDing before. You should check out Yoshi's WILD tutorial which mentions reverse blinking for overactive eyes. The link to KY's tutorial is in weakamon's signature. Also, depending if you're in REM, you'll either go straight into a dream when you fall asleep or you'll have to wait a bit longer until you fall asleep.
It's hard for us to describe if you've transferred over to a dream or not as some transitions are extremely smooth to the point where it's unnoticable and other times, you may hear a loud "WHOOSH!" right next to your ears. In my personal experience, either thing that happens, the 'aura' of the room will feel different. At this point you should definitely get up and perform a reality check.
