Hey everyone, I am Long time lucid dreamer first time forum poster

I first began lucid dreaming when I was fed up with a nightmare I was having. I always knew when I was dreaming, but I could never control it. Until one time I got angry at this creature in my dream and decided to take matter into my own hands. I knew it was a dream so I could do anything, and I punched its head off,

It was very interesting becoming lucid at first because there is this state of sleep paralysis, and I had to reallly convince myself to raise my hand in the dream than I actually gained some consciousness and raised my hand in real life. This didn't take me out of the dream, but from that point on I can control my dreams.

Some of the best parts about lucid dreaming is that if I dislike a particular dream, I can end it. Or if I really like a dream I can extend it. Also, there is the ability to move around freely in your dream. So if there's an interesting object in my dream I can go over and pick it up and look at it. Or say, if there is a symbol of my subconscious I can take a closer look at it and spend some time with it.

The only thing I can't do really is prevent myself waking up.. but maybe that's a good thing haha.
