      Newbie Here

      Hi everyone!

Actually, I stumbled upon this forum by accident. I was actually looking for information about opium and this forum popped up. I browsed around and I was instantly hooked because I did have several experiences.

      1. There were several dreams when I remember "waking up" twice, only to found out that I'm dreaming the whole time. So I was dreaming, then I "woke up", told myself that it's just a dream. After a while, I woke up again, realizing that the times I woke up are just dreams.

      2. There are also times when I know that I'm dreaming and I snap out of it. Pretty convenient during scary dreams.

      3. There are times when I'm only half-asleep and yet, I'm already dreaming. How did I know? I can hear myself snore. I then ask my wife if I was already asleep and snoring and she's saying yes.

So I look forward to my stay here!

Hi and welcome to DV! What you describe in 1 is called a False Awakening, they're great if you know how to spot them and can be used to get lucid every time. If you RC everytime you wake up in your bed then you should be able to use that to your advantage. I also had the same thing, I realised I was dreaming because I was having a nightmare and I used my lucidity to escape. When you can hear yourself snore you're in the middle of sleep and dreams, just relax and a dream will form before your eyes. Just make sure you stay focused so you don't black out.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Wow! I didn't know that there are terms for them.

I'll be sure to look around. But for starters, I'd like to ask. Why is it that every time I'm aware that I'm dreaming, it's during nightmares? I don't remember experiencing knowing that I'm dreaming when I'm having a good dream. Is there an explanation?

Being in extreme situations makes you think of solutions quickly, I often find that whenever I have to solve something in my dreams, the logic centre of the brain starts up and I suddenly realise I'm dreaming. But having the ability naturally is great, that means you know what to expect and you're sure you can become lucid in the first place (everyone can, just alot of people doubt in themselves) so if you start practicing a technique like DILD or MILD, you should see results rather quickly
