i dont force myself into an abnormal sleep cycle i have many problems falling into a restful sleep...ive been to the point of 62 hours with no sleep and the point of when i slipped into real sleep was so intense that i was in another state of mind, it wasnt a lucid dream but it was something else in itself...so i wonder does exhaustion and deprivation play a role in inducing a lucid dream...id really like feedback from this...please??? ;) ;) <3
Hm, I'm a newbie so I don't know about the role exhaustion plays in LD's, but I know I've heard that sleep deprivation for long periods of times can cause hallucinations. I don't think anyone would recommend depriving yourself of sleep to have an LD because from what I've read it's important to be comfortable, relaxed and free of anxiety.
I think a little tired is ok... Wake-back-to-bed interrupts sleep cycle and you go to REM quicker. And if really tired and you daytime nap I think you REM too. But really tired and go to bed usually deeper sleeping only. They say 8 hrs a night is actually the best for LD.
Depriving yourself of REM is a technique called: "REM rebound" and shouldn't be used too often because it disturbs your sleep schedule. But it is an incredibly powerful technique if you want long and intense dreams. It's just as powerful as any supplement can be if not even more powerful. If your brain doesn't get enough REM sleep then it will catch up on that the next time you sleep and you'll spend more time in REM. But it's not good for your body, so don't do it too often if you can avoid it.
