Some basic questions about HI & SP while WILDing

Hello everyone,

So I'm relatively new to the subject and wanted to try out the WILD technique. I'm fully aware that I, as a new comer, shouldn't be expecting to much if anything at all in the beginning, jet I want to know if I'm heading into the right direction (:

So I have tried out WILDing a couple of times now, some at night and some at noon, It hasn't fully worked yet, but I think I may be getting some results.

The first time I tried WILDing at night after about 6 hours of sleep. I stood up, got a sip of water and went back to bed.After some time of lying there still and having my mind focused on counting visually from 0 to x I suddenly felt a sort of energy wave that dispersed itself trough my body within seconds, followed by a heat wave. This scared me allot because to feel something like that was the last thing that I would have expected and so I opened my eyes accidentally, did a bunch of reality checks to make sure, but I obviously wasn't dreaming. could this have been SP?

the other day I tried WILDing at noon at like 2 pm starting with some meditation to relax myself. when I lied down, I started again to count visually from 0 to x, not moving at all (what does happen sometimes is that my finger or something twitches rapidly but this is almost unavoidable because i cannot anticipate this). So I counted up to like 150 and started seeing HIs all over my vision, mostly it was this purple color ball that morphed into various shapes and so on. What irritated me is that this happened before any obvious sign of SP, can this be possible? and further more if I'm beyond the HIs (they stop, reappear again and so on) what do I do then, do I just keep counting, and ultimately how do I know when I'm "there" resp. how do I now when I can open my eyes?

Not entirely sure I can provide the best answer, but I can give you some help at least. I don't believe opening your eyes is a part of WILDing, but (getting back to what you need help with) basically when you WILD the oddest things can happen the best thing you can do is ignore them unless you feel really threatened by them. I have done the WILD a few times and my success came from my focus on remaining conscious through an anchor ( breathing, using pain (not extreme just something bothersome), and disregarding discomfort and other issues the WILD threw at me. I did all that and my mind's eyes opened up ( you don't have to open your normal eyes) to the exact scene I first pictured. So just keep your focus and you'll go lucid in no time my friend, but also remember that focus shouldn't be the main task; falling asleep should be your first task in mind.

It sounds like you could've been in sleep paralysis. The only way to find out, is trying to move! :D Yes, it's a very overwhelming feeling to be in sleep paralysis, so therefore it goes away fast in the beginning. It can take a few tries to get used to it. The more experienced you are with sleep paralysis, the easier it is to WILD (I'll explain this later).

And you're not supposed to lie completely still. If you constantly feel the urge to move, you'll not be able to fall asleep and have a WILD. It's completely normal that your body twitches by itself. This happens during early stages of sleep, so it doesn't harm your WILD attempt at all. Just ignore them!

I don't count when I'm WILDing, but you should keep counting. I always see swirling colours before sleep paralysis. In fact, I see them every time I go to sleep. HI can turn into dream scenes that you can enter, but so far I've only managed to WILD without them (but I've been close a couple of times). With or without HI, you'll only transition into a dream if you stay calm and forget about your physical body. Sleep paralysis isn't always needed to enter a WILD, because sometimes you end up in one before you experience any paralysis.

It's easy to transition into a lucid dream from sleep paralysis. You can enter a lucid dream as soon as the sleep paralysis begins (this is where you must stay calm and forget about your body), and you'll feel strong vibrations. If you don't see a dream scenario, you can visualise one yourself or just keep an empty mind. When the vibrations stop, you'll be in a lucid dream. Most of my WILDs have started in my own bed, so do reality checks as soon as the paralysis disappears. You don't have to open your eyes, because you'll just find yourself in your bed (or somewhere else).

Yes, it takes practise to master this technique, but it's not impossible. You can start working with the DILD method too. It's considered to be an easier method, and it's great to be able to have both WILDs and DILDs!

Now I kind of have an idea of how things should work.
Just to make sure that I got everything right:
I don't ever have to open my eyes I just lay there and focus on my anchor and if I want, after sleep paralysis I can picture a dream scenario but I don't have to.
Ultimately my eyes just will be open and I'll be dreaming, probably being in my room, although this doesn't have to be the case. And I should always do RC's after I find myself "awake".
Just one more question, could any of you describe the transition from reality to the dream world during WILD's a little further? I'm really interested to know kind of what to expect (:

Think of it as transitioning to a dream. You are feeling your body falling asleep. Let the strange feelings and hallucinations happen. Focus on your goal of entering a dream. You can either wait for a dream to form on its own, or help it along by visualizing a scenario of your own. At some point, the visualization will become so real and convincing, it will be a full dream.

I normally feel at least two energy and vibration waves before I can enter a dream. Be patient, and stay relaxed through all the weirdness.

Yeah, it sounds like you understand! :)
But, you should picture a dream scenario during or before sleep paralysis if you want to use visualisation (because after the paralysis you're already dreaming)! :D

Okay, I'll try to explain the transition (from sleep paralysis):

When I'm in sleep paralysis, I stay calm and don't think of anything (but I plan to practise on how to use visualisation in the transitions). All I see is intense swirling colours, until they suddenly start to fade out. I still feel the vibrations, and all I see now is blackness. The vibrations start to disappear. When they're gone, the blackness have turned into my room. I'm in my bed, and I know I'm dreaming (but I still do a reality check to stabilise the dream a little before I get out of bed).

Also, the transitions have never lasted longer than 10 seconds. Just keep calm, and don't focus on your body when you're about to transition into a WILD! :)
