You've had them all your life.
If you mean deliberately induced then for me it took 2 days. My reading indicates that the average is well within 4 weeks.
Been trying for 6 day's now still haven't had one.. but i will keep trying :)
I took me about 2 months until I got my first lucid, mainly because I wasn't doing the technique that fits me. I did MILD for about 1.5 months but it didn't work for me, then started doing WILD for a while until I tried FILD and after only 2 times I had my first lucid. MILD or WILD may very well work for you though, it's just that my experience tells me you need to find a technique that fits you. Read about all of them, maybe try some of them and then stick with one for atleast a couple of weeks before discarding it.
took me 5 months for my first real lucid dream, but it was worth it!
It varies so widely between people that it's impossible to determine a real "average". A lot of people I've seen around the forum take around a week, but others have taken a year, a couple months, or have gotten lucid on their first night after learning about the techniques.
Depends what method. I had a few accidental DILDs when trying to WILD. Those happened within a few days, but then I had none for about 3 months, until I figured out how to WILD.
5 months for me but I didn't really try hard enough, very on and off. If I applied myself I think absolutely no more than 2 months (in my experience).
It took me a very long time, but mostly because I wasn't as dedicated to the cause as I could have been. If you live and breathe lucid dreaming it shouldn't take long :)
It highly depends on several factors, like your emotional state, stress, sleeping habits and schedule, the amount of effort, and the speed in which you accept the principles of dreaming (meaning understanding what awareness in dreams is).
Personally, I had one in the first night I ever tried, but that doesn't make me any more skillful than others. It's just that I was doing RC's all day, reading websites all day, asking myself if I was dreaming all day, while being over-excited. This allowed the brain to "fit in" wakening in a dream a highly priority task.
About regular lucids, that a whole different thing. It takes quite some time to achieve higher lucidity, control, stabilization, since they come when you're having regular lucids.
I've been half trying off and on for around two months, but I don't really have a regulated sleeping pattern. When I start work again and begin sleeping and waking at the same time, I'll think I pick it up.
In the mean time I'm just going to keep recording my dreams and hope for the best.
I first realised I was dreaming 2 weeks after trying to LD. I was unable to do it again after that, and consequently I gave up, and tried picking it back up about 1 year later. I had a lucid dream a few days after trying.
