Dreams of illness

Hi,

My dad has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer and is degenerating very quickly. However, he remains hugely positive and will not accept his mortality, which makes myself and my family have huge amounts of hope in this difficult time.

Recently, however, he's been having weird dreams; as a newbie to dream interpretation and being only vaguely familiar with some works on it, the meaning of these dreams have passed me by. Despite this, one dream has stood out to me, because I'm sure I've heard of such a motif before. This is the dream:

My dad's lying in his double bed. He isn't ill but there is a man next to him on the bed who is. Dad realises this man is cold and is trying to wrap him up, but despite his efforts, he finds it increasingly difficult to keep this man warm.

Sorry that I can't tell you more, but I don't want to bother my father by asking more questions about this. If anybody has any suggestion about what this might mean or indicate, then I'd be hugely grateful to hear your response.

I have to admit I'm not a religious person, but have great faith in people's ability to overcome obstacles through sheer force of will. I want to believe so much that my dad can beat this, but please be honest.

As far as dream interpretation goes, it's highly personal and dependent upon the individual. Our dreams are a reflection of our own minds, so the ultimate meaning of any dream is whatever meaning the dreamer gives to it.

That said, we share a lot of common ideas about the world, so some dream interpretation out there for this scenario might seem pretty accurate. Just don't fall into the trap of thinking there's a predetermined correct meaning for a dream. It really does depend on your father. The best way to get an answer for this would be to ask your father how the different aspects of the dream make him feel and what they remind him of.

With no personal knowledge of your father's psyche, it just sounds to me like your father has illness and loss of control high on his mind. This is understandable, given the circumstances.

Oh my. Thats to tragic. Hope is the absolute best thing for that situation, so you seem to be going good on that.
