      Hello there!

      Hi

I'm new to the community, just introducing myself. I'm 20 years old. I've had a couple lucid dreams in the past by accident, and I figured why not try to bring them about willfully. They seem like they can be fun.

However, I must admit that several of these forums bother me a bit. Much of them seem very pseudosciency (OBEs? shared dreams?). I'm quite the skeptic, and seeing people spend so much effort trying to share their dreams seems like a waste of time. I suppose I could get involved and start some debates if I felt like. I'm a physics major so I feel my science background could help me out around here.

Anyways, just stopping by to say hello.

Welcome to DV, skeptic or not

You will find this forum to be very open minded, well, most of the time, but definitelly tolerant and respectful of views of others. Nobody here will try to push his beliefs on you, nor we are here to prove or disprove anything to anybody, just to discuss our experiences and to learn a thing or two. If you are up for a opened and respectful chat, we are up for it. What you call pseudoscience and waste of time is reality for many people. You don't necessarily have to agree with everything you read, but it's suggested to be nice about it. If you don't like any particular forums, feel free not to participate in them. Now, I'm not a mod and I don't speak for DV, so please don't take this as any kind of instructions

      Happy dreams

      Hey physicsguy, welcome to DV!

If it's any consolation, when the forum was initially created, there wasn't an OBE or Beyond Dreaming forum or anything like that, it was created later because some folks were carrying on about it so much that we figured we needed separate forums. In the lucid dreaming forums, any topic or post that falls under pseudosciences gets moved to the proper forum. And like gab said, rarely do people shove their opinions down your throat. And vice versa. I'm not going to run into a church and yell "I'm atheist, you're all crazy", and I expect the same respect in return. Same thing on this forum.

That said, if anyone tries to force you to share a dream with them, let me know and I'll break their kneecaps

      Hey physicsguy! Welcome!

Here at Dreamviews we have a lot of members that believe in things such as OBEs and shared dreams. We also have a lot of members that are skeptical or don't believe in them. That's what makes this forum so great. The people here get in good debates and start good discussion. On this forum, we have a separate section called 'Beyond Dreaming' where all the "pseudosciency" stuff goes. So, if you don't want to see that you don't have to. Personally, I have had some pretty crazy experiences with shared dreaming.

This site is mainly focused on lucid dreams and it should help you get a bunch more! If you haven't already please check out this Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming by Puffin. It is an awesome guide that's very helpful. Anyway, I hope you continue to post around this site and get active in the community. Welcome, again! If you have any questions about Dreamviews or lucid dreaming please send me or another staff member a PM.
