My Introduction

Hello all,

Firstly i would like to say that i am happy to find a site such as this, i have many dreams and some of them affect me emotionally and i can acknowledge these feelings and emotions in the dreams but i cannot control these dreams. My Real name is Michael, im 18 years old and live in Ireland. I just finished Secondry School and going to Study Software Systems in College in September. I like working with Computers and i also like to do Fitness and Weight Lifting. In my spare time i also like to go Target Rifle Shooting.

I would like to share something i have been able to do for years and years and wondering if anyone has somthing similar to this. Firstly i dont think its dreaming because i am awake when i do this but it is just weird. Ok when i close my eyes, all i see is blackness and green and purple *stars* (similar to a head rush). However, an odd time i see a golden colour, and whenever i see this colour, i let myself dive into this colour and it expands showing me a picture of what appears to me of old, cracked castle like buildings with images of sickly people, this is all in golden colour and only lasts for about 5 seconds before it vanishes and goes all black,purple and green again. Other times i see pictures of steam trains? I know, it sounds very odd, but these are the only two images i see when i do this. I just feel that the pictures are images of "olden times". I would like to know if anyone experiences this also?

This is called Hypnagogic Imagery, and from the looks of it, it seems you've been inducing (albeit unintentionally), a mini-WILD of sorts. I have to say that I believe your trip to lucid success is going to be a lot easier. From what you're saying, it doesn't seem lucid by any means, but these images are definately the "starts" (if there is such a thing), to dreams.

I recommend that once you reach a sufficient level of dream recall, that you try to intentionally continue these dream 'pockets' (these images), but without control.
