Newbie Needs Some Advice
Hey guys. I have recently been looking into lucid dreaming and asking around if anyone has ever done it. It seems a lot of people have done it at least once without trying. I have never done it, but I have been trying for about a month and a half. I can remember most of my dreams clearly, and have been adding some vitamin b6 to my diet. I even tried a meditation technique which may have gotten me to sleep paralysis, but not into a lucid dream. As of right now, I am just looking to get my first one. Once that occurs I will attempt to regulate it. I am getting very annoyed because I havent gotten close. I feel that I am having problems believing it. I can tell its doable, but its as if i feel I cant do it. It seems silly, but its just a mental block I need to break. Any tips?

Welcome to DV:) First, you have to get rid of your mental block, which I know it's easier said than done. I suggest read many dream journals and posts like 'my first ld' to get you excited and believing. Because without that, there is no lucid dreaming. You have to know and you have to proclaim your intent to have a lucid dream. Here is a post about intent.
You can check out the DV Wiki and pick a technique. But in general, MILD for dreams called DILDs is easier to start with. Actually it's very simple, but it will only work, if you believe in yourself. To MILD technique, I would add some Puffin's DILD Guide - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views. Dream journal is important and you should start wrting in it, even if you remember your dreams without any problems. It will let your mind know, that dreaming is important to you.
Pick a small task you want to do in your first lucid. Make it something simple. Read some posts like 1000 things to do in a lucid to get an inspiration. Think about that task during day also.
Please post, if you have more questions. Happy dreams:)

Welcome to DV! It sounds like you've started on your way to lucid dreaming quite well. To me, recall is one of the most important foundations for lucid dreaming - without it you won't be able to remember your dreams!
As you said, you've already identified your problem in that you feel as though you can't do it. This is more than likely what is holding you back! If you simply allow yourself to know that with time you will achieve a lucid dream then they will come! Lucid dreaming isn't inherrently difficult - a lot of beginners exaggerate how difficult it can be to get a lucid dream. Relax, and go to sleep knowing that you can lucid dream!
If you haven't already , check out the Beginners Guide to Lucid Dreaming and the Wiki, there's likely a few little pieces of information in there that will help spark your confidence and get you that lucid dream!

I saw some guy around here who got his first LD after six months of trying. Don't give up. I recommend trying wild as well. You might succeed, but even if you dont, it still sets your mind on lucid dreaming providing a higher chance to become lucid that night.

I got my first lucid after 4 months. First of all I was patient and believed it would happen as the time was ripe. Second I now know what works for me to get lucid :D
Every one is different and you just have to find out what works for you!
Just keep trying and keep a dreamjournal, it really improves your recall.
And be patient, you get closer every time you try.
