Delurking
Just last night I accidentally suggested myself into having a lucid dream. It didn't last too long, though I knew I was near to wakefulness and tried to keep it stable for a bit, but unlike a few other very low-level brushes with lucidity I've had, I was struck by how real it was. I've had some murky DILDS, and DEILDs which were basically daydreaming while asleep, but nothing beyond that until now.
I've known about lucid dreaming for a long time and have lurked on the site before, but the important thing I realised was that I had actually suggested myself into lucidity, since I had read a few things that coincidentally had offhand references to lucid dreams in them, and I think seeing something and just accepting it (but only without thinking about it) has this weird priming effect.
Anyway, that was what made me want to stop lurking and get on here, but I'm not sure how to start yet. Any suggestions?

Well, hello then and welcome to the DV community :) Congratulations for your first lucid, it's often the hardest barrier!
A good idea would be to start a dream journal, if you haven't already, as it's going to increase your LD frequency and give you some insights on your dreams.
Another excellent tutorial on getting more DILD's and being aware of your life is KingYoshi's All Day Awareness:
