WILD questions from a WILD noob...

Hey guys. Sorry bout this but I'm having trouble performing a WILD. Or even getting started for that matter. I have read the Lucid dreaming FAQ, and the 2 WILD tutorials. I have been trying to perform a WILD for the past 4 nights. The first night i tried it, i didn't expierience any HI or sounds or anything and had a low level LD. The last few nights i haven't been expieriencing ANYTHING, but I can remember having a non-lucid dream in the morning. Last night i figured that during the 45 minutes i was awake I would read the WILD tutorial. So i did and i still didnt expierience anything. This can be very frustrating. Can anyone please tell me how to perform a WILD in a way that will at least start me to expierience some HI or sounds or SOMETHING? THanks.

Thats great you had an LD thats the whole poit of wild to have an LD now you have LD's and you should be asking how to make them clearer. your not gona experience a WILD in your first days of trying unless your a natural. I myself have been trying WILD for about a month and i get closer everytime i try but i never had a succesfull WILD i think you should reread the tutorials. some people have been trying for several months. Practice you need more practice. Your not gona get Halusinations on your first try unless you have been trying fo a while (even if u dont know it) theres alot more work to be donei also suggest reading past threads theres lotsa and lots of questions like these.

I must admit, it does take a while to do a WILD and that is because you are learning what works and what doesn't for you. Also some things that some people might experience might not be what you experience. Finally, fear, anxiety, or concentrating too hard can stumble a person. Fear is overcome by facing WILD more and more and getting use to the unknown.
Basically--don't give up!!! Keep at it.

Now as to why you aren't experiencing anything could be because you haven't really started a WILD and that could be because of not falling asleep--your body that is, not your mind. Many things can affect this: are you stressed out, nervous about it, too excited, thinking of many problems in life, or concentrating really hard. You should be relaxed, calm, imagine your body becoming limp. Stare out into the darkness. Try not to think of anything. Sometimes, thinking can help though (again, it varies from person to person). I have read some people count (I love doing this to stay focus). Some people chant ("I will be lucid tonight"). Some people daydream (that's what I do :D Gets me there quicker since it is relaxing). Find what works for you.

Other ways that help induce--some suggest excersize since you exhausts your body but awakens your mind. Some suggest doing it in the afternoon. Some suggest doing it when you are extremely tired so it is easy to go under. Some say wake up and then after 15 minutes do it since it is closer to sleepy time, but harder to stay alert though.

I hope this helps! Check on the forum "attaining Lucidity." Many people there post about WILD and reading what others go through and do really helps.

pytis does bring up a good point.

However, that doesn't mean you achieved a successful WILD. A successful WILD is entering a dream from never falling mentally asleep. You are awake the entire time and experience your body going to sleep which has a wild ride you might say.

If you are having LDs, it sounds to me you are falling asleep as you attempt to do a WILD.

Thanks guys. The night that i had my first LD, i do remember i fell asleep before anything happened. I am an avid bodybuilder so i always will be tired enough to fall asleep fast. But the other night i just laid there relaxed for about an hour. It really made me mad. So i just went to sleep normally. But i'll keep practicing. Thanks.

Hey, Shibby.

Not sure if this will help, but there is a little-known technique for inducing (at least) hypnogogic imagery. While you are relaxing for sleep, rest a single arm out to your side, bent upward at the elbow, your forearm perpendicular to the bed. Keep your attention on your hand, and as you start to fall asleep, it will start to fall. Whenever it begins to do this, make sure to put your hand back up in the proper position. Sooner or later, you will be drifting off before your hand falls, and this state of falling asleep/focusing on your hand, you will begin to notice the hypnogogic imagery.

download those free samples and listen to the free 8 minute "brainstretch mp3" i have it on now and i feel like i could have a dream at any moment as compaired to my last failed wild attempt. if u have an mp3 player u should try playing it while trying to wild you will be surprised how well it works. what it does is simulate brainwaves that gradually slowdown to the speed your natural brainwaves are at when you are sleeping. so just stay awake and listen to it and it will force you to wild eventually.

thanks dudes. I've been havin trouble even getting started with a WILD. I'll try that mp3 tonight. If it doesn't work, i'll try the thing with the elbow. But a question about the mp3. Should i be expieriencing HI before its over or will it start when I am starting to doze off? thanks guys.

i hear some ppl dont see HI. for an occifial wild you should be awake not dozing off. the first induced ld i had just a few days ago i got pissed and just let myself go to sleep but then had the low lvl LD, kinda like how u had urs.

since those are not full mp3s u should loop them for maybe an hour or so just to make sure the wild has time to kick in
