almost lucid
last night I had 3 dreams. in the first one I got really excited because I thought I was lucid but I later realized i wasn't (that or lucidity isn't as amazing as its made out to be). the second one was a normal dream and in the third one I saw some crazy stuff and tried to write it down and told myself not to forget it in the morning. in the dream I knew it was a dream but I couldn't think that straight and it wasn't totally clear. is this normal or did I raise my hopes too high?

Welcome to the forum!
Let's answer those questions:
Yes, lucidity really is as amazing as it is made out to be.
Yes, it is normal, clarity isn't always perfect when we dream and some people report everything going hazy when they become lucid.
One thing that is certain is everyone experiences lucid dreaming differently. We have a lot of guides on this forum but no guide will work the same for every person. Some people find one technique while others have success with something completely different or opposite.
Still, you are in a good crowd and the people here are dedicated to lucid dreaming and all the fun your imagination has to offer.
I don't know if you've read any of the material yet. I can point you to a thousand resources on the forum but I would love to know if you have tried any techniques or if you have any goals for lucid dreaming. Post a reply here so I know what led you to DreamViews.
In the meantime, if you do have any questions please feel free to post in the forum or right here. You can even send me or any staff member a private message by clicking on our profile name. We respond, I promise. :)
Pleasant dreams!

Don't give up! Like melanie said, lucidity can be amazing at times. Isn't just the fact that you're conscious in a dream amazing enough if you think about it? All that you see isn't being seen with your eyes but your mind.
She basicly covered most of it, us people in green are here to help, so ask any questions you might have :)

Hi infroo! Welcome to DV. I feel your pain ... I keep having dreams where I'm only kind of lucid. That is, I'll realize that I'm dreaming, but I still won't have much control. It's frustrating, but you just have to keep practicing. Make sure to try reality checks and keep a dream journal. It really helps! I haven't reached lucidity yet, but my memory of my dreams has at least improved a lot so far. Good luck!
