Question Had my first lucid dream after just one day, but it seems grey.

      Hi everybody out there!

I had my first lucid dream just the night after reading about lucid dreaming a lot on wikipedia and dreamviews.com:

I was going down the staircase in my parents' house, then I stumbled and fell on my the floor with my face down. But it didn't hurt! That was when I realized that i was dreaming and i immediately told my brother (in that dream) that i am dreaming. Then I looked into a mirror just to see myself hovering about 20cm above the ground, so i decided to fly outside through the wall and played around dunking at the basketball court in my parents garden, which was an awesome feeling! Then I flew around in the garden, but eventually woke up. After waking up i felt totally happy about having my first lucid dream.

However, there is one thing that is strange to me: Somewhere in your instructions it says that a lucid dream would look totally realistic; whereas my lucid dream looked like everything would be in a kind of fog (there was no fog in the dream however). Also, there is not a lot of colour, somehow more like a sepia picture, or like closing my eyes and imagining something during the day. Of course, during a dream, everything feels like beeing real, but in my lucid dream i could tell the difference between dreaming and waking just by the way the world looks like, not just by the weird things in it.

Could it be that my dream memory is still weak and memories fade quickly? How are you experiencing your dreams or lucid dreams? Do they come in high definition? Am I maybe demanding too much from my dreams?

      Have a nice dream,

      sendiulo

PS: I hope i don't double-post this, but it didn't show up immediately

      Hi sendiulo

Welcome! And congrats on your lucid dream! Wow! One day. Awesome

Dream quality which is hazy is pretty common. Especially if you're starting out with lucid dreaming. You can remedy that by doing stabilization techniques. Check this out: http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/ninas-...torial-118317/

Don't worry about it at all, as it will get better the more you focus on it. But that was a great start!

If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask See ya!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Congrats on your lucid. Some of your lucids may be the way you described it, and some of them may be super realistic with details, colors more vivid and beautifull than in waking life. I think it will get better the more lucids you have. You can use commands like "focus now!", "increase vividnes". Shout them out loud. In my first lucids, I was not able to talk, untill I started practicing shouting them out loud in waking life.

I believe, that the most important thing for a lucid dreamer is awareness. If you increase you awareness in waking life, you will be more aware in your lucids. Let's say you are walking to the store IWL. You are deep in your thoughts and not paying attention to your surroundings. You may walk by many things, but you will not notice them. But if you constantly looking around, noticing details, comparing them to how you remember the street from last time, you will notice pretty much everything. Same way in your dreams - if you don't have enough awareness, dream may be foggy, lacks colors and you don't feel like you are really "there".

Please feel free to post your questions. If you like, you can join a class in DV Academy.

      Thanks, paigeyemps!

I'll definately read through the post you recomended

It's comforting to know that this can be improved, or at least change. It kind of felt like being "special" in a bad way, because nearly everyone i've asked about their dreams told me, they were dreaming in color and detail.

      Thanks also to you, gab!

I guess you've "cold read" my character; i tend to walk around pretty carelessly sometimes. I especially tend to forget a lot of daily stuff, like if someone asks me to do a little favour i often forget to do it (not because im mean). On the other hand i guess i am on the asperger spectrum a little (although not diagnosed and probably very very light), as i like thinking about or observing details of objects or phenomena to get behind their causes.

I'll try to be more aware. I've already started a habit of looking at clocks and texts as well as asking myself whether i dream, as is recomended in many instructions. Also, I've started a dream journal (with my first lucid dream being the first entry ).
