Hello fellow hope to be Oneironauts

Hi everyone, as you might guess this is my first post and im excited to delve even deeper into the alien world of Lucid Dreaming. I figured why not start my academic Lucid Dream career with a question. The WILD, for some it may be the light at the end of the tunnel, and I hope the same for me. But in the present it just seems like a distant hope. I feel im on the precipice of gaining entry into this new world. I just cant get over the hump. I have been trying to WILD for sometime and I just feel like I cant get it. I have yet to see the hpynagogic images and am not really sure if have experienced sleep paralysis. So my query is, can you give a somewhat new comer some tips to further me along my Dream Journey?

First of all, do not worry about sleep paralysis. It is NOT required in order to achieve a WILD. Furthermore, many sleep paralysis claims during WILD attempts aren't even really sleep paralysis at all! The buzzing, tingling, and other feelings people report are normal body sensations that may or may not accompany a WILD attempt. Secondly, if you do not get hypnagogia or hallucinations, that's okay. There are even some people who WILD without ever noticing those. I do highly recommend reading through the DreamViews Academy WILD Class, where the different aspects of WILD are thoroughly explained.

In order to WILD I thought you only needed to do two things: RELAX and stay AWARE.

And that is very true although the intent behind the awareness is more important than one might think.

It's not an short way to describe that intent, although in short I would recommend meditation to naturally learn how to do it.

It's not a tutorial of exactly how to meditate, because that doen't exist, it's a tutorial of how to learn it on your own naturally.

Your welcome ;) Meditation can seem hard at first, because one begins by wondering what one should do, but the paradox is that meditation is a practise of doing nothing!

By doing nothing you can learn to experience single point consciousness which is very beneficial in order to learn to WILD at (will), although the possibilities of phasing the consciousness are endless. (But that's another topic) :content:

After about 30 min of laying in bed trying not to move I found myself feeling heavy and tingling (which I'm wondering is SP). But I was waiting wanting for something to happen but nothing did. I was waiting to see something anything but only my eye lids. What should I do in this situation, stop, keep going, start over?

Sleep paralysis have many meanings, but in this case I guess you want to know if you could transition into a dream based on the sensations you felt.

And well the sensations of a partial dream, also caleld hypnagogia, will feel so real that there is no doubt in your mind that you will soon be dreaming. It can be sensations like hearing a person talking, seeing weird patterns and colors (intense), falling sensations. But remember that if you feel strange sensations you should just direct your awareness to them, if you here a strange beep sound, just listen with all your awareness on that sound. When it increases to it almost hurts to listen to it, you can basically get out of your bed, because it is more likely to be a dreambed than your real bed.

In these situations you can do movement free reality checks like imagie hearing a sound, or imagine holding your phone in your hand or imagine seeing something, if you are partially dreaming and close to dreaming these actions will get more vivid on it's own and when it does all you have to do is to focus more on them. Although if nothing happens you are not very likely to transition, but there is one thing you can do increase your chances of experiencing hypnagogia vivdly and then transition.

Well the answer is simple, you just have to ask yourself what the cause of hypnagogia is in the first place.

Relaxation. Just relax almost try to fall asleep, sort of like you were trying to trick your body that you are falling asleep, do that intuative action you do with you eyes that you usually do to fall asleep, but interrupt yourself before losing awareness. Then perform a movement free reality check again. This have turned the tides for me many times during my WILD attempts.

If it still doesn't happen anything by then, literally try to fall asleep and see what happens, you will be surprised... ;)

I'am not saying to you to stop WILDing,but usually WILD is a bit harder for beginners.I recommend the All day awareness tech, it has brought me all of my lucids.or you can alaways go with DEILD,which is a easier and faster version of WILD.

I agree with the whole meditation idea. Practcing WILD takes deep concentration. And not concentration in the sense of thinking about everything you do. But meaning you must concentrate on NOT thinking about everything you do, yet being aware at the same time. That might give you a little mind fuck, but that's what meditation is for: Un-Fucking the mind. I'm new to lucid dreaming as well, so I understand your frustration. Meditation will hopefully turn that frustration into pure energy of the mind, and give you the confidence to just fall into your dream state of mind

That was as interesting interpretation "Un-fucking the mind" I like it. xD It goes straight to the point.

Anyway another way to see how this now only is helpful for WILDing, but actually IS WILDing itself is the following:

Sleep is unconscious meditation, meditation is conscious sleep. :meditate:

I didn't understand it before, but when you experience the meditative state for the first time and regain awareness of the physical world again after have being in point consciousness or nothingness, then you will realize that you were asleep but aware! Same with lucid dreaming, you'll wake up and realize that you was sleeping aware! The difference between point consciousness in lucid dreaming though is that in lucid dreaming you have your awareness and intention directed to something external, because the experiences of the dreams is by then experienced external by you, because it is in a sense your reality by then. How's that for a mindfuck! That is why meditation is a good state in between where everything is calm.
