Melitonin?
I have heard that if you dont sleep the best at times you can get some melitonin to help you sleep beter at night. I was wondering if anybody objects to doing this or if it can affect a lucid dream. I personally think it wouldn't affect you in a bad way cause it is natural but if it has messed up anyones dreams or made it unpeasant to them please let me know thanks.

Honestly, I smoke pot and everyone tells me that it will give me really bad dream recall but I had a very vivid lucid dream last night and I remembered some of my dreams so even if it did, it probably wouldn't be that much of a difference. As ong as you BELIEVE that you can lucid dream, you can do it. Everyone has the potential no matter what they stick inside them self. If you want to do it, go do it. don't let some melatonin scare you away

I guess it would be alright, if it helps you sleep better. Different things work differently for everyone, so as long as you stay healthy then that's good. And the better you sleep, the more chances for lucid dreaming!
Welcome to DV :)

Yeah don't worry. You don't want to take melatonin too often though, it's something your body produces naturally and messing with things like that might mess up your natural ability to fall asleep or get healthy sleep. Don't overdo it if you're going to do it.

Well you can also just relax, and the aminergic system of the brain and the levels of melatonin along with some other chemicals will increase. :)
If you can't sleep try this little exercise.
Chose a comfortable posture and then close your eyes and take a long deep breath through your nose, hold it for a second or two and then exhale through your mouth, continue doing this and on each finished breath count down from 20 to 0. When or if ^-^ you reach zero, just start imagine yourself being in a familiar place, like your school, your work or even your house and then just play around with that visualization and be in that experience. Make a big cute bear appear or a cool dragon or anything you like, there is no limit.
With practise you can start entertain yourself with visualizations but if you want you can just do this until your mind starts to wander, and let it wander until you fall asleep.
I find it hard to stay awake while doing this sitting up in an uncomfortable chair, so if this isn't easy for you to do while in a comfortable bed, then there is something on your mind that you need to deal with.
But to round this of, aids for anything, sleeping, dreaming etc. is ok I guess, but you'll learn more by trying to learn something naturally, and you can also put your confidence in yourself rather than a pill or whatever aid you use.
Good luck. :)

It wouldn't hurt to try it out right? See how it affects you. Like Matte said though, do not overdo it! Keep it at minimal amounts. Also here is some more info about Melatonin. :)
