Never knew there was a name for it. "Lucid"

I was thinking about how I use to be dreaming when I was a child, and suddenly realize I was dreaming. So I was playing with www.google.com trying to find out information on it. But I didn't really know how to describe it. I tried "dream recognition" and for the longest I couldn't seem to find exactly what I was looking for. But then I found this site leading to this message board. This has happened to me twice. The first time probably at age 10, the last time probably at age 12. I don't remember much, but I remember standing in the street and becoming aware that I was dreaming. So I decided to levitate. I floated in the air. It was the oddest feeling I've ever had. But I woke up. Its like once you realize you're dreaming, you can't stay asleep. The second time I was having a weird dream where my brother was locked behind bars. I realized I was dreaming, bent the bars, and turned around. Again I either woke up, or went back to "regular" dreaming. Again I think it's hard to maintain control. Maybe you can't be that much aware and still sleep. I don't know. I always thought it was weird. I think it's even weirder that there's a forum about it. I think that if I learned to be aware during my dreams everynight that it would lead to insanity. What would one dream about if you had full control of your surroundings? Wouldn't you get bored of it? I say it makes you crazy.

Is insanity really such a bad thing??? If I could achieve control, total control, I would it every night. I would probably become a bum... let this "reality" be my hell and my dreams my paradise.

As you can tell I'm already a bit crazy.

      By the way.... WELCOME!!!

      WELCOME!

Lucid dreaming is a WONDERFUL thing, and there is no 'bad sideffects'
It is perfectly healthy, and it adds 'life' to my sleep, and even help me perfect the waking reality through it!

If you want to read more about it get this book:
EXPLORING THE WORLD OF LUCID DREAMING by Stephen LaBerge!
"i am the crumpled sheets of paper behind an artists' attempt at perfection"

      First Welcome !!!

I don't know if you could ever get bored. Guess the trick is not to try to control everything. I've has many dreams where I have just walked around in awe, not controlling anything, just enjoying the experience.
Sometimes it is even more real that waking reality.

Crazy, what is crazy? Maybe it is a term used for those that have trancended the waking reality?

      Anyway, I ramble. Welcome again!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

that is exactly what happened to me. I am glad I am not the only one out there really, anyway now that I know I was Lucid dreaming I have so much fun with it. And by talking and wandering around here I have found different things to do so I don't get "bored". One thing that I think is kinda fun is while you are lucid dreaming try to remember a dream that you read here and see if you can recreate it. That is weird because it is like wandering somewhere where you have never been or would have thought to go before, and it isn't stealing because you just borrowed their idea and YOUR mind has to fill in all the blanks. It is a new thing to do if you really feel up to a challenge.
Love like you have never been hurt before

I dunno. I take Zyprexa for Bi-Polar disorder, mild skitzophrenia, and Effexor for depression. Also Xanax from time to time. That's the prescribed ones. On the flip side I do alot of LSD and XTC. You think Lucid Dreaming is fun? I always thought it was a sign that I was crazy. I don't believe that "stupid" people could ever achieve awareness while dreaming. It's all about perception. I'd be willing to bet all of you who post here are above average IQ.

PS-I'm already a bum. I graduated high school with a 4.0 and was the validictorian of my class. I received a full scholorhip to study Aerospace Engineering at Embry Riddle University near NASA in Florida. Instead I had mental breakdowns and now I just deliver pizzas for Papa Johns and explore the depths of perception. I'll probably OD in one of my attempts but until then, nice to meet you other crazy people. You're all crazy you know.

      so, who gives a #@%!

no, my IQ is probably lower than that, but im sure i have a larger EQ number.
but i dont think anyone will be able to totally measure someone's IQ...and its kind of ethically correct in some peoples views...oh well! i dont really care that much at what number i am!

You guys are my kind of people.
      Glad I found this place.
In fact. My life is nothing but a Lucid dream and I willed you all to me.
I believe in a long, prolonged derangement of the senses to attain the unknown. Although we live in the sub-concious, our pale reason hides the infinite from us.

I was just wondering about LD'ing the other day... It is believed you dream because your brain processes things and you emotionally deal with stuff in you subconcious... Would'nt LD'ing mess things up? Instead of dealing with the stuff your brain would normally do, you sort of take that time away to do other things.... if you dont get enough REM you go crazy. But I guess its not a big problem since not every REM is always LD...

Lucid dreams are just as safe as dreams (the scientists confirmed this) the only diffrence is that your aware of it. If you happen to go insane its because of you not the lucid dreams Just dont get strange with it or anything.
