Hello. A beginner.
Hello everyone.
I'm new here, and in lucid dreaming. I've been reading this forum for the last 2 weeks, then I had my 2 first lucid dreams a few days ago (so wednesday 19 december 2012 is a historical day, at least for me...). As I think reading this forum somehow helped to root in my brain the idea of being lucid in my dreams, I thought it might be a good idea to register in the forum and thank everyone for the huge material gathered here.
I knew about the possibility of lucid dreaming for some years, but it' only two or three weeks ago I decided to try to experience myself that possibilty, I can't say exactly why. My first entry in my dream journal is on the 5th dec 2012. I start from very far, because I've never had a good dream recall, but that's perhaps already improving. I also started to do reality checks during the day, when I think to it.
I had begun to think my first LD would be a WILD, as I had experienced 3 "false starts" of WILD, in the days before my 2 first LD. They failed, very likely because I was too nervous. The interesting thing is that my 2 first LD, as well as my 3 WILD false starts, happened just the morning after evenings when I decided to forget about it tonight and just go to sleep. And 2 of the 3 WILD false starts when I was not trying to have them, by surprise.
I could share those two dreams in the ad hoc section of the forum, but they're not interesting and very short. I just had the idea to check reality for the first time, then I felt victorious in the first one, surprised in the second one, excited in both, and finally woke up after perhaps, respectively, 5 and 2 seconds of lucidity. In the first one, immediately after I realized I didn't know how I came to the place where I was, I knew I was dreaming, even before I actually saw my distorted hands. In the second one, I was doing ordinary things in my familiar environment, then my cat (who died one month ago), jumped on the living room table and meowed as it used to do, so I said : "But, you, you are dead !", I checked my hands and just woke up. No false awakening (never experienced that, as far as I can remember) .
Please forgive my English, as my mother tongue is French ; I'll just say it once. Et voilą.

Congrats! Every little bit counts. Remember that LDing is easy, you just have to find your own path. :)
There are a lot of people here that are not natural English speakers as well, so don't worry about it. No one here will judge your grammar or spelling. :D

Thanks for the welcome and congrats. I'm working on it. Clearly, I want more, now.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream Guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.
One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners
After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/
Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.
Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)
Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)
Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)
I hope to save you some time by giving you a link to a thread we all put together on the topic Sleep Paralysis. There has been so much misinformation and confusion on this topic, that after a few days on the sight, you would surely run into confusing statements refering to SP. Save yourself some frustration and read this post if you want to know about SP, http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/sleep-...lained-136993/
Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/
Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/
Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
