Hi guys Im new here.

I've been studying sleep paralysis and trying to get in it for my self experience.

I have read that it can be scary and terrifying but I find what I have read to be fascinating and I've been trying to induce sleep paralysis for my self.

Every nite now I go to bed and try to relax and I am finding my self relaxing so far I think I have fallen asleep because I even started snoring! But I know I can't still move. My whole body becomes numb from laying still for so long, I can remain still for an hour or more and if I go longer the numbness feeling gets more intense. I have felt something pressing down on my chest and holding my wrists but I know I could still move and talk if I wanted to.

After so long like this an hour goes by the feeling tends to fade and I wake back up with out any further experience. I lay on my back legs spread out and arms down my side.

Any info on what IM doing wrong would be great.

Also through out this experience I haven't felt any fear in fact its rather relaxing and it clears my mind from stress.

What you have got wrong is not your fault, it's actually just the tutorials that kind of have a wrong idea of what th e goal of WILDing is.
Sleep paralysis experiences... let's take a typical one: An alien abduct you and let them fly away with your spaceship.

Unless you truly believe it happend, it can be safe to assume that you wasn't in sleep paralysis (awake and paralysed), but actually just dreaming (and asleep).

In this example is is obvious, but for some reason beginners overlook this possibility when they feel WILD sensations as well... ^-^

Let's say you feel a heavy vibration sensation, I mean like extremely intense, your whole body feels like it is going to shake you to death.
Why do people think in these ways here?! --> "Oh I better wait out the vibrations, oh I better try to enter the dream."
It sohuld be just as obvious that this is already a dream! Just get out of bed stop focusing on laying still just get up!

There is one thing to keep in mind though and that is that your body's natural relaxation sensation, can feel very similar to the sensations you feel right before you transition into a dream, so it's sometimes hard to differate the one for the other. (Perhaps they are the same.)

So what you should do when you want to test if it's just sensations of relaxation or sensations from an oppurtunity to transition, in other words to test if you can transition or not, is to either take a chance and just get up the instant you feel strange sensations (this can work more often than you think!), but since it is a little risky you can try to visualize something. The idea is that if you are in a dream you can control it and thereby test to see if you are in a dream or not.

I usually imagine myself doing acrobatics like side flips, because I am familiar with those sensations in physical life, although you can try to just imagine rubbing your hands or clapping your hands or even box a wall, and if you can feel it you are either "teleported" to that dream scenario or you can assume that you are laying in a dreambed and just get up.

The error that most WILD tutorial do is to aim for sleep paralysis. What you can do to correct this is to change the words sleep paralysis, and body paralysation to the word "dream transition" and it works a little better. Because you see the paralysation of the body happen already while you are dreaming, or perhaps when you start dreaming, so why look for that and not the dream itself? X _ o

thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply been having computer problems!

I did another try to have a lucid dream last nite. Though my right eye kept on opening slightly but I felt more relaxed than I normally do and the numbness over my body was very intense, I don't think I was in sleep paralysis yet because I was pretty sure I could still move even though I could hardly feel my body at all. When I been laying there for nearly an hour and 30mins I decided I needed the bathroom and I could move.

Was I in sleep paralysis or not? plus what happens when you start to enter a lucid dream? I could see a dark haze behind my eyes but couldn't really make a dream happen.

How ever last nite was the most intense numbness I have felt since I have been doing this.

Hey again no worries. :) My point with the previous post was to show you that sleep paralysis isn't necessary for WILDing, and I tried to show you a way of doing the WILd attempt without thinking about paralysis as at all.

One thing to think about to make this claim obvious, is that ok let's say that you suddenly feel your body get numb or some vibrations, if you are truly close to to transition to a dream there shouldn't be something for you to actually do, except observe the process happening, so in a way what I am trying to say is to not try to do anything! Just relax and observe what's happening. The only reason to why I tell you to test if you can feel strange sensations is because if you can fell them, it is more likely the you are in the dream dreaming that you do a WILD attempt in your own bed. And besides, body paralysation is only happening when you already are in the dream, it would be insane if it would happen before so if it happens at the same time as you start dreaming then it's kind of obvious to say that whatever you experience as sleep paralysis is already a dream!

To summarize and make it sound a little rough, but apparantly it is necessary to make new people who WILD to understand:

Either you are in the dream already or you are not close at all. So when you ask me if you were in sleep paralysis or not, you are in fact asking me "Was I dreaming or not?", If you on the other hand are awake and experience sleep paralysis in the awake state, you either have the sleep disorder called oboy.. "sleep paralysis" Yupp confusing I know.. Or you are actually in the dream trying to transition into a dream.

Also remember that a small amount of numbness can be induced by just relaxing, so just because you feel a strange sensation it doesn't mean that the body is paralysed, it only means that you are not used the sensations relaxing. If it was body paralysation, believe me you would not doubt that it was it, because those sensations are not only strange, they are intense and crazy, but remember they are usually just a dream!

I am trying save you lot of time and frustration, so re-read my previous post and think about what I am trying to say.

If this is to much for you I suggest that you read about the DEILD method which is an easier way to approach a Wake Initiated Lucid Dream.

I recommend you take a look at this thread. It's clears up a lot of misinformation and would probably benefit you. Don't worry if your WILD attempts aren't working at first. It can take some time. Just stay motivated and keep going! Best of luck :)

Hi thanks to all who have replied to me.

I must say WOW I took a nap about 30mins ago. Since today I have been extremely busy and over did it with exercise dew to my work but I think I nearly hit sp. Was not having much luck with the whole thing but I thought to my self I will keep trying. Any way I was relaxing on my bed and cleared my mind and was just merely relaxing trying hardly not to move for at lest 20mins and then all of a sunned bam! it got really dark -hence- I was wearing a eye mask cause I find it more safe with the lights on and since I live with my folks still they might find it odd that I am having nap. The experience I felt was I was asleep and my left eye lid was rapidly moving I could not control it at all and I had the sense of my whole body shutting down, I have had the numbness every time I tried this but this time it was very intense and slowly disappeared but I could no longer feel my body. I decided to try and move and then all of a sudden as soon as I was in sp I was out again, bit disappointed but heck I am way happy I got that far. Plus I felt no negative feeling about it at all, I guess its because I new what was going on.
