Helllllllllllo everybody
As you can tell I'm new here. I've been lurking on this forum for the last week and finally made an account! Only LD once I think...
I've been having this weird situation when I'm about to go into a dream (from being awake) and something will "jump out" at me and wake me up again.
Also I get stuck in sleep paralysis a lot which I can't pass though, it's scary stuff.
Let me know your opinions, i'll read them all.

Welcome to DV MFCamp.
My standard response to scary stuff is to take control and start asking it (DC, image, monster, feeling, emotion etc.) stupid questions. Most of the time they have a limited script and if you ask a question they don't know the answer to they give up and take off (or get mad ... be careful). As I have posted in detail before my favorite question right now is to ask what their favorite pizza topping is. Or what did they have for breakfast. when was the last time they master.... . I try to have some fun at their expense and have gotten rid of 99% of my unpleasant bad dreams.
Cheers

Welcome to DV!
Do you mean the feeling like you're suddenly falling when you're trying to fall asleep? The SP can be used to your advantage, you just ignore the sensations and start visualizing. When you're in SP you're more than halfway into a dream, the dream just needs to be formed. Imagine standing on a big field and touching the grass with your hands. Focus on that enough and you'll suddenly be on that field in a dream :)
If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks lucidpotential I'll have to try that but I always feel like everything is so real. I'm working on my RCs though!
MATTE87 so I'm halfway there? That's awesome and I sometimes feel like its weights on me.

Yep Matte87 is right.
I naturally wake in SP like situations from time to time. It really used to scare me badly. My natural reaction was to fight against it and try to move. The more I struggled the more stuck I felt.
Now since I've learn about lucid dreaming its actually the "Holy Grail" of lucid dreaming. You can do what Matte87 suggested and visualize a scene. Or if you have trouble with that you can imagine yourself slowly getting out of bed for a more OBE like experience. Personally I just imagine my feet floating up and over the side of the bed. As soon as I "feel" the floor and I am immediately standing in a dream version of my bedroom.
The big key to all this is to relax into SP. Don't fight. Let it take over your body.
As for the something jumping out at you. It's just Hypnagogic Imagery(HI). That's actually really good to be in that state as well. It means dreams are forming. I know it hard to ignore but if can get past all the "noise" you'll be right in a Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD).

Xanous thank you for your info, I'm going to look up HI. An example of what I'm talking about would be like I'm walking along a fence and a dog will hit it and start barking at me.

Yeah I get that a lot. It's like your vision and hearing is totally in the dream but you still feel like you are not quite asleep and feel yourself in your bed. Sometimes I feel like I am spinning and even feel G forces. It's all pretty normal.
