A breakthrough perhaps?

Hello everyone
I'm an oldie and I got interested in Lucid Dreaming because I used it in a self-published ebook I wrote (my latest sales/reviews are.....zero) I cheated really, because I didn't really have a clue about LD...I just used it as a means of communication in a sci-fi novel.

But, now I'm hooked. I've read most of Stephen LaBerge's book, now run a dream journal, do regular daytime RC's, tried sleeping with headphones with/without music but with "Do a reality check" prompts...and I've had zilch. If anything I went backwards because I stopped having the occasional vivid dreams I used to get and I wondered if my experiments were damping things down somehow.

But I read a thread by Naiya last night and I might have had my first result...small though it is. She talks about persevering with things long-term (I'm too inclined to move quickly on) and about sitting bedside and planning a dream scenario. I thought about a beach on the East Coast with a holiday camp in the background, music, fireworks and really bright stars

What I got was a house I was trying to access, with help from someone who came from a nearby holiday camp and me trying to climb over a cliffside wire fence, with a beach behind me. Not much I know...although aspects of the house were weird, no first lucid dream connection...but I personally feel that it's a breakthrough of sorts...two definite links to what I had envisaged before I went to sleep and that gives my fresh impetus.

Re the fireworks etc...parts of the house were add-ons and one annexe had multi-coloured spots on - maybe a faint link (Incidentally, I've had three dreams this year with odd multi-coloured themes in them -God knows what that's supposed to mean)

Anyway, I'm now firmly hooked

Lets hope we can keep that interest going! :) Longevity results in my opinion from really enjoying your dreams. Dive into them, and explore the parts you like the most. That will give you the most enjoyment, and hence more motivation. :)

Hi Chimpertainment Thanks for responding I'm just a bit disappointed that I discovered LD so late in life. I can recall I had a spell of flying dreams a few years back - if only I had known enough to follow that up then. I recall I'd take off in my local high street and feel "this'll get me noticed!" (sad isn't it?) but I remember that I couldn't fly very high. (I suppose an analyst would have a field-day with that little revelation) Erm....(looks round furtively) does sex enter into this scenario of yours? Not (I hasten to add) that it's a top priority in my future plans. I'm looking to get a lot more HEIGHT in future airborne excursions (other Worlds perhaps?) to turn my erstwhile inferior guitar skills into a performance that would make Clapton sell his Strat and to establish World Peace (OK...some things are obviously too far-fetched, even in DreamLand.)

Nothing is ever too far-fetched, and you will realize this once you start getting lucids :D Whatever you wish to do, I suggest writing it up and making a list. Perhaps put a deadline too, like a month or two. That helps motivate your mind to get it done as well as make it easier to remember once you're lucid since you are familiar with it in waking life. Have you ever thought what it was like to become a planet? Insane idea right? That has been done. How about transform into a dragon? Been done too. Fly with angel wings? Yup. Control the elements? You bet. In fact, lucid sex, for most lucid dreamers, is quite boring and really nothing compared to other stuff you can do. Not saying you shouldn't do it though ;)

Anywhooo, it might excite you to know we have monthly tasks that are just really creative and brilliant. You can even look back on older months' tasks and give them a try some time. Task of the Month It's just our little way of having a friendly activity everyone can take a whack at, as well as do fun things in lucids.

I am confident you'll do well soon, so keep up the motivation and you'll get there for sure. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask at all. Btw, you might want to start up a dream journal too. Welcome!

Hi paigeyemps lovely talking to you. I've started a journal in my appalling schoolboy crabby handwriting Also adding what I've eaten each day just to see what works. yeah forget the sex. Who needs it? (especially at my age...give me a pork pie any day) Flying is definitely going to be one of my fortes if I ever get this show off the ground. Who knows what the future may hold? A dream Olympics, with lucid dreamers all competing against each other in a dream Stadium...now that would be something. Here's hoping....
