Hello!
I wandered to this site while trying to figure out this weird little thing that happens to me quite often. I really think it's pretty cool, I only say weird because it doesn't happen to anyone else I know, they say I should get my head checked.
So anyway, as I lay in bed on the edge of sleep, usually thinking about something or other, I will get this vision of some random boring scene. Sometimes I am involved, sometimes just observing, and it only lasts for a few seconds. For example, the other night I was thinking about something I needed to do the next day at work, then I'm suddenly in a dream and am waiting at the train stop, in the daytime. The train comes and a woman steps out and smiles and waves at me like she knows me, then I step on the train and wake up. They're always very boring like this.
This only started happening a couple years ago, but in the past six months it's been more common. It also happens when I nod off during the daytime. I don't find it anything to be concerned about, just curious. The experience is similar to reading a book and watching tv at the same time.
I've browsed the forums here a bit and haven't really found anything yet, but I'm curious if anyone else has this experience so i will keep searching!

Hey Catnap!
Hmm...maybe you are indeed falling asleep? There's an experienced called hypnagogic hallucinations that are very common as a person drifts off into sleep, and they often reflect pretty realistic and mundane situations. I hope you find your answer :)

Yes, I get those alot too, especially when I doze off for a moment during the day. In those cases, I know I fell asleep. But I never knew it could happen while I was awake, and I know I am awake, because I am thinking, and that thought is uninterrupted by the vision. guess it's hard to explain.
Thanks!
