Hey everyone. I just joined this site today. I've always be interested in lucid dreaming and I decided I want to be able to have this skill forever. Learning to lucid dream is easy. But you will need lots of dedication, practice, mental preparation, right frame of mind, excitement and intent. But no worries, it sounds more complicated than it actually is. We have a huge amount of information and some very good tutorials. Those together with our dedicated teachers in DV Academy, Dream Guides answering your posts, and tons of members willing to help and share, will be all helping you on our road to lucidity.

Like gab said, lucid dreaming only sounds complicated. It's really not. Of course, there are people who find it much easier than other people do, but don't let that stop you. There are plenty of how-to's and articles on this site to familiarize yourself with some techniques that you like. Just explore around. As gab said, if you ever have a question, then just make a post.

Again I appreciate the kindness here, this seems like an awesome community. I figured instead of making another thread about a question I had, I'd rather ask you here. I'm not the type to wake up in the middle of the night. So why is that since I started to practice lucid dreaming 2 days ago I tend to wake up four or 5 hours after I go to sleep? I put on binaural beats and then repeat in my head "Next time I'm dreaming, I will realize I'm dreaming", until I fall asleep. This has happened for the past two days. When it happened yesterday, I got up around 6 and remembered part of a dream. Today I got up at 6:30, didn't remember any dreams, went back to sleep and remembered 2 different dreams which kind of gave me hope since I feel like my dream recall "may" be getting better. I also took a unisom tab last night which didn't do anything. What do you think it is? Is it better to have a steady sleep schedule? Could it be the binaural beats or am I over thinking things while in bed? Also I sleep with a lamp on and usually with my tv playing music as well. I'm going to leave the tv off for now to see how things go. Sorry for all the questions, I don't know what else I should do.. Thanks again, gab.

The only difference between us noticing things when we falling asleep and not noticing is if we pay attention. Normally, we don't. But when you get interested in sleeping, dreaming, lucid dreaming, remembering dreams, and all that, suddenly we realize that there is a whole new world out there.
We dream every night, but if we don't care about them, we may not remember them. We can see hypnagogic hallucinations at any right time when falling asleep, but we don't notice, because we don't even know they exist. We can feel vibrations or any other sensations at any time when falling asleep, but again, we would have to pay attention to notice. We normally wake up in average every 90 min, after every sleep cycle, but until we consiously want to notice, we have no idea it's happening.
Lots of things depend on us opening our eyes and paying attention. This is a huge part of lucid dreaming. It's called awareness. You will find about it and about tons of other things in above linked threads. So read up, and ask as many questions as you like. Feel free to post them in their appropriate forums, as there you will get more relevant audience than here.
