Your Higher Mind sees this 'questioning of Reality' as a prelude to some disaster. Exactly what have you planned for when you go Lucid? Whatever it is you want to accomplish, your Higher Mind considers a threat. You need to re-evaluate your Lucid Goals. You need to turn on your Intuitive Mind and meditate within yourself and find out why your Higher Mind is throwing out these Obstacles and Resistance Points.Quote:

In many cases, people have become enamored with the Theory that Lucidity will allow perfect and complete Control of all Dream Content. What this would do would be to effectively eliminate the Higher Mind's influence over your Dreams. Now, you should understand that what little influence the Higher Mind can exert over the Waking Self is channelled through Dreaming (there could be other ways... if a person would begin to see Life as a Product of Synchronicity and would begin to interpret Life Events as thought they were the Symbols of a Dream, then the Higher Mind would then begin to exercise an influence even during our Waking hours). So, anyway, when a new Lucid Dreamer is plotting to destroy every influence of the Higher Mind, by hoping to destroy every bit of Dream Content to replace it with empty and meaningless figments of conscious imagination or masterbatory fantascies, then the Higher Dreaming Mind rebels and protects itself.
So you should re-evaluate your Lucid Dreaming Goals in the light of your Higher Mind's Agenda for you. Come to a Compromise. See if you can work WITH your Higher Mind instead of working entirely against it.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm, ok.
well i personally always wake up when i am truly lucid, not just dreaming about being lucid. i fade as soon as it dawns on me. its like trying to wake up without waking up! ITS HARD
I have know about lucid dreaming for about 2 weeks now and so far i have woken up thrice after gaining lucidity, my last experience was something like this, i was sitting in the middle of the jungle with a few characters from the TV series LOST. Then i start talking with one of the characters about reality, i don remeber much about the conversation but i remember that the guy was talking in anological lines, then in one of his replies he mentioned dreaming, that triggered it off, i quickly cut him short and asked him if i was dreaming and i awoke almost immediately...
Typically, people become lucid before they wake up because they are closest to consciousness and the conscious mind is waking up. Since logic and reason are mostly controlled by the conscious mind, it's easier to tell if something irrational is going on.
That's where reality checks and techniques like WILD and WBTB come into play. It's about training yourself to always question whether or not something is really happening so that when you begin dreaming, you'll be able to tell that something is out of place. It's not uncommon to wake up and my LDs are usually very short, but just keep working at it and like anything else you will improve. I have faith in you.
Hope this helped.

Hey, I'm new here and don't know much, but I saw somewhere that one reason you wake up is that you get so excited to be having a lucid dream that you wake up. Correct me if I'm wrong...
