An Introduction
Hello eveybody, just want to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm a 16 year old high school student who has been trying "this" for years. I first became interested when I was around 11, albeit I never took it seriously until about a year ago and have since then been doing a little more work towards having my first (remembered) lucid dream.
I have, however, had some minor success with astral projection (or OBE, whatever you'd like to call it.) Minor success is pretty much the best way to put it, as I never really broke through to the astral plane but I had some things happen to me that completely solidified my belief in the power of our minds and the power of our universe. My main interest in life is consciousness and it's various different states, especially dreaming. The mind to me is something incredible and it's definitely what I'm devoting my life to (not the scientific aspects, but the philosophical and in some cases religious aspects).
As far as lucid dreaming goes, I'll admit I've been a bit lazy. I spent most of the past two years working on astral projection and made some interesting strides in that area that kept me "too busy" to work on lucid dreaming. I started a dream journal a while back but gave up on it but have just recently decided that this skill is too important to me to keep waiting.
So in an effort to keep this introduction short, i'll end it here. Hope I can be somewhat helpful to the community and I hope the community can help me as well.

Hello estimatedprophet... or EP, if you don't mind. :)
Welcome to DV and I'm glad you've regained your interest in lucid dreaming (LDing). Having dabbled with states of consciousness, you should have a fairly good base from which to work. My question is, out of curiosity, how's your grip on reality? How consciously aware are you of the things going around you that can and can not be done. Try first to focus on waking reality (though reality checks) so when something does happen that contradicts rational actions, you can notice it right away.
If you have any questions, let me know. I also tend to ramble so if this doesn't apply to you at all, hopefully someone else who may be looking will need it :P Thanks for joining!

EP works just fine :)
My grip on reality is really not so much me always questioning it but realizing that it is incredibly...mystical? I guess would be the word to use. Thanks for reminding me about the reality checks, it was something I meant to start up (again) today. Like I mentioned, I see something sincerely incredible in how we are in the universe and how we fit, how we experience. The bulk of my belief is based on eastern philosophies, which to me seems to be more interested in how we're all connected and a part of this "experience" rather then western philosophy which takes the point of view that we are external watchers of what is happening.
That may not sound that it has much to do with lucid dreaming, but to me it does because dreaming is a pivotal part of that experience that I believe the majority of people in the world overlook, and I'm sure since we're all on a lucid dreaming forum that we can agree how incredible a thing lucid dreaming is, even if we haven't experienced it. I've always wondered how lucid dreaming couldn't be more "mainstream." Seems like a skill that everybody would want to learn.
