I think your problem is low awareness and that's why you're not getting lucid. It could also be the way you're doing reality checks. When doing RCs, do you question your reality or do you do it on auto pilot?

There's more info on RCs right here if you're not sure: Reality Check Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

I dont know what kind of reality checks you already do. But one that always works for me is the one when you pinch your nose and try to breath through it. I believe that this RC always works for me, just because one is always expecting to fail to breath through the nose while doing it. But if you do the RC where you look at your hand and see what is wrong with it. Then you need a higher awarness from the start. Wich would be a better thing of course. But not as easy as trying to breath out of your closed nose, I think. The most important thing though, would be praticing daily awareness as AstralMango already have mentioned here. A high awarness in your daily life will not only benefit one's lucid dreaming, but also make you remember things much easier. And help one to be able to learn new things much easier etc. Well I hope this is somewhat helping you in your progress to lucid dreaming. Anyway, good luck to you!

Well your really close if your saying out loud your dreaming in a non-lucid. But as the other two have said, your problem is you have low awareness in your dreams, you should check out KingYoshi's ADA tutorial on DV. I'm in the same boat as you as most of my normal dreams aren't very vivid too.

Another thing that could help you is when you do your RC's, are you actually question "Am I dreaming". If you do it without really putting effort into it and thinking it as a chore then it won't be much help in your dreams. The next time you do an RC, really start questioning your surroundings, do more than one RC at a time for example, pinching your nose and trying to push your finger through your palm.

When you've finished obviously don't say "it's not a dream" as that's just going to carry over to your normal dreams and the whole RC thing will be pointless. But yeah, check out awareness tutorials.
