New Here, New Experience
Hello there,
You can call me Althis Megas, or Alt, or anything really. I just enjoy being called that.
I enjoy psychology, games and long walks in the rain. I am coursing Computer Science in Brazil and....
I am just terribly terrible with introductions, lets just move on, shall we?
Anyway,
So I was trying to lucid dream, and I was taking a nap, and every time I woke I tried to FILD. And I did that a few times, like 4, without success.
Then last time I tried I actually succeeded, but the thing is that I had woken and not noticed it was actually a false awakening, and I actually induced
FILD THROUGH the false awakening. Of course I woke up just after. It is one of my first times doing it so it was likely, but I would like to know which
parts of the experience where due to FILD and which where due to the dream I was already in.
For example, when I was FILDing I had a sudden sense of plunging into darkness, like what I imagine sleep paralysis is supposed to be, which is weird, because
FILD shouldn't cause sleep paralysis, right? I also went through this thing that looked and felt like a thunderstorm for a few seconds before coming straight
back into my room.
Another thing that I want to know is if lucid dreams in your experience are any different if you get into them through a false awakening. I know that whole
thing about going deeper in Inception is bs, but when I got into my lucid dream, everything was very slow, and for example, I felt very heavy and couldn't
get out of bed, trying to get out of bed made me wake up. I could move my arms and I could check reality by looking at my hands but couldn't really get up.
Has anyone else got experience with lucid dreaming through false awakenings? Is what I had usual, or is it a construct of my own mind? Anyone know why I
couldn't get up when I became lucid, and only then?

:welcome: to Dreamviews, alt!
Interesting, you are like a 3. person today asking why his FILD didn't work. And I'll give you same answer.
I'm not saying that you are not familiar with techniques, or that you didn't do your mental prep sufficiently. But, none of the techniques will work, if we skip the mental preparation. Best way to learn that is through DILD and it's awareness, RCs, mantras, intent, proper mindset. DILD also prepares us for a WILD. And FILD is a form of a WILD.
Same as WILD, FILD will not work, if we are not familiar with the fundamentals of lucid dreaming.
I would not start with a technique like FILD. I would start with a basic simple DILD, then moved on to WILD and only then I would move on to anything else.
I would recommend to start with links below. But if you insist on FILD, you will find those threads in the forum. You are welcomed to ask questions there about it, as I don't practice FILD.
Welcome
Induction Methods and Techniques
You will most likely not experience SP when lucid dreaming, and it's not required, as it's impossible to induce. Any sensation you may experience is our bodies falling asleep, and later on, transition into lucid dream.
False awakening, or FA, is a normal non-lucid dream, that starts with us waking up in a bed and going about our business. If we RC every time we get up from bed, it's easier to catch these FAs and get lucid in them.
Yes, many people believe, that dreams are flat, as in there are no layers.
Good luck and let us know if yo have questions. Happy dreams.

I've read them, and I do realize that the fact that I didn't reach lucidity through wakefulness already means I did not achieve it through the method WILD.
But still, I gained lucidity using the technique FILD, doesn't that mean I achieved it through FILD anyway? The method used was DILD, but the technique was FILD right?
I know it is pretty weird since FILD is usually a technique for achieving WILD, the same way that WBTB and the original WILD technique, but in this specific situation, couldn't it be considered a technique that helped me achieve a DILD?
Also, my question stands(And is not why FILD didn't work at all!), have any of you done this weird cross-over of using WILD techniques in dream settings? And if so, where they similar to mine?
P.S.: Thanks for the quick reply!
