Hi,
im Jupiter and practise Lucid Dreaming for about 1 1/2 years now. Im in a german forum too, but still have some problems to get lucid.- So I had about 20 dreams now where I was not really lucid, just pre-lucid. I also often dream of lucid dreams.
- I also have problems to feel something in a dream.
I mainly practise WILD in the evening, because I can't WBTB every night.
So I hope to get some new opinions and impressions here ^^

Hmm, WILD in the evening seldom works: at the beginning of the night when one falls asleep one is first in a long NREM phase and it is hard (almost impossible) to stay aware in NREM. WILD mainly works after one has had several hours of sleep already. Have you tried DILD/MILD? WBTB is not required for DILD/MILD. Also have you tried increasing awareness during daytime with reality checks and ADA/mindfulness?

What I don't understand is if I do a nap in the afternoon, everybody says that it would be easy to have a lucid dream. But if I do it in the evening, a lot of people say that it is impossible. How does my brain know that I do an afternoon nap and don't want to sleep a longer time?
I also tried DILD / MILD and got a few of my pre-lucid dreams with it, so I started practising WILD. Yea, awareness is one of my problems, at the moment I'm reading a book about the buddistic view on it. ^^
But in general I don't think that WILD in the evening is impossible, it also would not increase my chances if I think this.

^^ Both of these are answered by sleep cycles.
When sleeping, you go into REM cycles approximately every 90 minutes. Each cycle is longer than the last. So your first few REM cycles (through the first few hours of sleep) are short with long intervals of deep sleep in between. But toward the end of your sleep period the cycles are getting quite long, so that shortly before you wake up you're essentially in almost one continuous REM cycle. This is the prime time for lucid dreaming, one reason being if you're going to do a wake back to bed technique (which are very effective), you want to make sure you've already had at least 4 or 5 hours of good sleep, in case you can't fall back asleep (which happens sometimes).
As for the timeframe for napping - apparently your REM cycle remains active for a few hours after you wake up, so that if you tale a nap during that period you can fall directly into REM without needing to wait 90 minutes. But after a few hours of being awake the sleep cycle resets, and then if you go to sleep or take a nap you'll need to wait the 90 minutes.

Ah ok thank you I never read before that the REM-Cycle resets after a few hours if im awake. ^^ But I will continue practising it, I had some pre-lucid dreams with it.
I have one question: Why is everybody so quiet in the chat? :confused:
