Hey Dreamers!
It seems as though everyone who signs up here posts an introductory thread here... so I thought I would too, just to be different. :chuckle:
My friend first told me about lucid dreaming only a few months ago, sending me a list of steps and he said; 'this is how you can control your dreams!' and I read it and thought 'what a load of baloney. You can't control your dreams!'
Well, I was quite wrong!
My friend had sent me the WILD method, and I had no intention to try it at the time, but he did. He said he attempted it in the holidays, but he fell asleep. I guess not everyone is a natural lucid dreamer! Especially not me. Since then, TheDreamCloud (my best friend in real life) and I have looked into dreams, lucid dreaming, techniques, methods, sleep paralysis, and just psychology in general. We found it all extremely fascinating, and instantly wanted to know how to lucid dream. I was a bit tedious at first, after some of the stuff I had read and my immense fear of the dark, but TheDreamCloud gave it a shot and sure enough, on her second attempt she was able to have a lucid dream. I have tried with many failed attempts, however last night I was the closest I had even been to becoming lucid in a dream. It really messed with my sense of reality; I had a dream about being lucid in a dream! So I saw myself controlling the dream, but I didn’t actually have any choice in what I could say or do. Confusing, I know. I won’t go into detail.
So that is how I came across lucid dreaming, and I signed up to Dream Views to learn more about it. I found t was full of fantastic info and heaps of friendly people, so I can’t wait to share my experiences with you, and in turn, for you to share your dreams with me.
Dream on, x

Welcome to Dreamviews!
Yup, it starts with a dream, haha. No, srs, it does. With you thinking about lucid dreaming, reading tutorials and imagining yourself doing all those crazy and imposible boloney things that crazy people claim to be able to do. :teeth:
What you had, is a precursor to a lucid dream. A dream, in which you think you are lucid, even if you are not. But you see, this is how your daytime thinking starts to happen in your regular dreams. Reality checks, mantras, ... it will all start happening in your dreams and it will get you lucid. Keep going, don't give up, you are >-----< this close.
Welcome
Induction Methods and Techniques
Any questions, ask please. Happy dreams to you and your friend TheDreamCloud.

Welcome to the forum!
Like gab said, you are so close! Don't give up! Your waking life definitely spills into your dreaming life. IIRC, it's called the Tetris Effect. Like, if you play Tetris a lot, you begin to imagine shaped blocks falling as you fall asleep, and your dream usually involves something Tetris related. Replace Tetris with thoughts about lucid dreaming, and it's easy to see how something like that can happen.
I completely understand, I've had several dreams about being lucid without actually being lucid. Usually, my dreams are kind of like an interactive video, in the sense that I'm usually conscious enough to rewind or reset a scene if I don't like the outcome, even though I don't really have any control on what happens in the "video".
Sounds like you're almost there, and trust me, it gets easier from here. Good luck!

Thank you so much, gab and spellbee2, for you replies!
And with you two saying that I am so close... well, I'd like to let you know that I have had a lucid dream! I got it through a non-intentional WBTB, waking up at around 3am and not being able to get back to sleep, I think it was a stress issue. I became lucid through DILD, and was able to speak to my subconscious for a very short time before the dream ended, and I woke up with a smile. Thank you all for your help, I can't wait to have another one. :D
Dream on,
