Hello! An experienced Dream Journalist, but not an experienced Lucid Dreamer, looking for advice!
Hey there! I'm new here, relatively speaking (I've had an account for two years, but have only just started using it!) I've kept a dream journal for about two years, on an off, for stints of a few months, however, I have yet to have my first lucid dream.
I have had brushes with it, now and again, where I have sensed a vague awareness of dreaming and changed a particular circumstance accordingly, for example, I once had a dream where I had to cross a seemingly impassable broken bridge and I thought: This is a dream; I can just jump over the chasm!, and so I did, but I wasn't truly Aware
I try to put as much detail into my journal as possible; the only reason I ever stopped is because I sometimes lost heart with my continued failure to attain lucidity. It is obvious to me that I lack the proper talent to immediately attain lucidity, but I often have vivid dreams and I have good dream recall, however, despite attempting numerous techniques, I feel I am just too skeptical or perhaps nervous to truly manage the enlightened state of lucidity. I do admit that I am rather lax on reality checks. I also sometimes don't fill my dream journal in until a while after awakening, but I usually get the key points down.
Does anyone have any advice for me, bearing this information in mind? Although I have pursued the idea of lucid dreaming for over two years, and have read a fair bit of literature about it, I am still essentially an amateur, having never actually achieved the intended goal, and therefore, any advice at all would be very welcome.
Thanks!
