Experiences from Vizualization - Spontaneous Visions and Music

I'm 49. When I was 22, 23 years of age during my first years at college I was struggling with algebra and calculus. I was perusing through a bookstore one day and found this book called simply; Creative Visualization. I read and applied the techniques. I would meditate a couple times a day, especially in the evening. I would go to bed early to practice. After a several weeks of consistent practice I got better. I found that the hardest part was shutting down all the "chatter" in the mind. I got more efficient at closing down this chatter.

I would focus on an inanimate object such as an apple or a tree or anything. I would try to feel the texture, hear the noise it would make. I preferred total silence during the session. It was some time later probably a month or more that small spontaneous imagery would pop up. It was usually nature scenes like swaying trees or skyscapes. I noticed when these spontaneous visions occurred my "other" mind would take notice of it and would break the spontaneous "flow". Two parts of the mind were at work....the one making the vision and the other getting in the way. I got better and the spontaneous visions got longer in duration. It was at this point that I remembered every single dream I had and I could seize control of the dream. I had spontaneous music occur one night. A single tone wove a tune then a second tone wove a separate tune around the first tune but as a compliment ...then a third ...then a fourth....then a fifth and so on until it was a huge symphony of beautiful music bursting in my head.

Shortly after this my life changed and I drew away from this habit.

Now, I want it back.
