Lucid Dreaming for first time. Help me.

Hello, guys. I wish to begin lucid dreaming. I tried FILD (Finger Induced Lucid Dreaming) technique, but after doing 2 reality checks with no luck, I thought to try it again next time. Also, I tried to listen to lucid dreaming binaural beats this morning. And yes, nothing happened, I just felt asleep.

But I have some questions which is really important to me:

1. I have read LD forums (DV too), and I found, that most people who experience sleep paralysis see some "demons" and scary figures. Someone wrote that he seen a girl with a knife in his room, and that girl tried to kill him, he felt pain.

I'm afraid of that. If I will see that girl from Ring or serial killer in my room, I will just... die of fright (I'm 14 years old).
Someone also recommended to not to open eyes when you in sleep paralysis, so you will not see visual halucinations. But still, I don't want any halucinations at all. Is it possible?

2. Sometimes I have obsessions that a killer stands behind me, I start to imagine that. In Lucid Dream you control your dream with only thoughts. If I will imagine that there's a killer who wants to kill me, will he appear in dream? If he will, is it possible to somehow stop imagining him?

1. Ehh, I am tired of this... Sleep paralysis is not a common thing, I would even say it's quite rare if you don't try it on purpose. I've been doing LD for 2 years and never experienced a sleep paralysis, for example.

2. Start imagining something else or fight with your fear - transform him into something nice and beautiful, talk to him, etc. Use your imagination. ;)

Yes, I know that sleep paralysis is rare thing. But, if I will experience it somehow, what should I do?

Hi Sparky. You sound like you've heard a lot of fear talk. Lucid dreaming is too much fun for fear!

But to answer your questions:

1. One RC will not produce SP. In fact, many LDers never experience SP at all, or very rarely. Sometimes, yes, there are frightening hallucinations in SP. best advice is ignore them, and wsit for your awesome dream to start. If you can't handle this though, try to move a finger or toe. Once you do this, the apparition will disappear. But seriously: you cannot be harmed in a lucid dream. So stop scaring yourself.

2. Yes, thinking this can make that DC appear. But on the other hand, smiling and hugging this person will blow your subcobscious's mind, so to speak, and the killer will probably turn into a friend, a sexy DC, or a puppy or something.

Fear is the mind killer. If you are afraid if your own mind then LDing will be challenging. Buckle down, do some RCs, and have a good time, damn it. :fuckyeah:

And, can you answer my another question, please? :)

I listen to LD binaural beats on my phone when sleeping. Does this increase my chances to LD? (Currently, I use FILD technique.)

I don't know, really. I have not heard many good things about binaural beats. A friend of mine says it is hard to fall asleep with em playing.

FILD is a WILD technique; work on some DILD techniques as well (doing RCs, developing strong intentions before bed, practicing MILD). Lots of good stuff on this website. Good luck

I know your feeling. I'm 14 years old myself. I was scared of Sleep Palarysis to but not anymore after I watched a video of a guy called GizEdwards look him up on youtube. He tells really good stories and give usefull information for lucid dreamers. Back to Sleep Palarysis.. Sleep Palarysis is a really rare thing. But if it does happen who saids there will be demons and the ring girl in your Palarysis. I had mine first one 3 weeks ago. I thought there would be grudge girls floating around my bed or something :D. But when I was Paralyzed I remember to stay calm. I imagined teletubbies floating around. AND THERE FREAKING WERE TELETUBBIES :DDD. If there will be scary things in your you can simply stop then Sleep Paralysis by changing your breathing patern. It helped a lot of people. I hope we can stay in touch.

Apparently the term "sleep paralysis" is being used in two different ways. In one sense of the term, this is something that ordinarily happens to us every night when we sleep: that is, many of our motor functions switch off, a safety measure to prevent us from physically acting out our dreams. The other sense of the term is being aware of this paralysis, a state sometimes treated as a pathology because it can freak out people who aren't expecting it. But if you understand that your body ordinarily becomes paralyzed every night during the dream state, maybe it won't be as scary on the off-chance that you happen to consciously experience this.

I've always referred to SP in the more mundane sense: that is, I can't say that I've consciously or directly experienced it, but I always know when my body has successfully entered sleep paralysis at the beginning of a WILD when I experience sensations of movement that I can tell are not being acted out physically. This is probably the more typical experience of SP in WILDs, that is, a condition that one is aware of only indirectly, and maybe it is people like me throwing the term around too casually that can lead the inexperienced to expect that the more dramatic experience of conscious sleep paralysis is commonplace.

Apologies, then, for adding to the confusion! But this leaves us in a quandary. What are we supposed to call the ordinary and everyday paralysis of the body during sleep--which we can become consciously aware of indirectly when we realize that our attempts to "move" are manifesting in a non-physical "body"--if not by the term "sleep paralysis"? If it is desirable to distinguish our ordinary and healthy state of sleep paralysis from the unusual and potentially alarming direct experience of it, then a more precise terminology will be required.

1. You don't have to experience SP to lucid dream. Just don't worry about and don't expect that it will happen. If it does, stay calm and think about happy things.
2. Just try not to think about it. If it does happen, do what ThreeCat said and hug the person and ask it if it wants to go do something fun. I'm sort of like you and sometimes I'm afraid that I'll have a lucid dream, but scary stuff will happen. Over time, as you experience these things, you'll realize that it's just a dream and it's nothing to worry about. Do the opposite of what your instincts tell you. Don't run away from the serial killer, hug it because maybe it just wants hugs and it'll be your friend :)

My answers:

1. You have to know that sleep paralysis is something normal that we expirience each night without even knowing it. When we train our minds we can embrace the sleep apralysis head on. Now there will be a lot of haluciantions because its a state of mind where the body is asleep and the mind isnt. So everything you see in a dream will be in front of you. You will expirience visual, audio haluciantions you may even feel someone touching you. The bad part is when you open your eyes. You must never do that because the image wont be a good one. Yet again if you dont imagine such scary stuff they wont materialize in your sleep paralysis. You just need to stay calm and control your breathing and everything will be fine.

2. Now thats a matter of how much you control your dream. It deppends on what level of lucidity you are. But the answer is yes and no. Because as I said you might not control your dream that good to create a dream character of some sort. But if your dream control is good you will spawn a serial killer behind you. As I said the thing that "moves" things in lucid dreams and sleep paralysis is thoughts. So if you imagine bad things like serial killers or zombies you might have 50% or higher chance of seeing one in a lucid dream or SP. Just stay calm and dont thing of such stuff.
