Hi fellow humans,
I'm 32 and from South Africa. That's all you need to know. For now. Yes, I know the flag I picked is the Canadian flag, but I've been obsessed with Canada for years. I don't like my "home" country of South Africa. And yes, I AM a little bit of strange one. But I like it that way.
Anyway, I'm relatively new to this whole Lucid Dreaming thing. Been curious about it for a couple of years, but never really did any research. It's been about a week now since I've decided to really start looking into it. And that's when I discovered this forum. I love forums. Now, I've always been good at remembering my dreams. Not perfect, but good. I tend to remember a lot of them. Sometimes more than 2 a night. Other nights I remember nothing. But oh, do I love dreaming.
My goals for LD'ing is to have some fun and provide an escape from my boring life. I also read somewhere that it's a good way to heal and practice becoming comfortable at things that are a cause of anxiety and stress. I have a little bit of social anxiety, so would love to work on that during LD'ing. I would also LOVE to have access to those deeper parts of myself that I struggle with or aren't aware of. Sort of like getting to know myself better, if that's at all possible with this.
I've been doing RC's throughout the day. Last night, something strange happened. I think I had a fake LD. In the dream, I remember looking at my hands and asking whether I'm dreaming. I noticed that I had extra fingers branching out of some of my other fingers. However, I didn't attain lucidity. The remainder of the dream just went on like a normal one. When I woke up I was disappointed. I had A LOT of dreams last night too, and I kept waking up throughout the night/morning. Almost like restless sleep. Can anyone maybe shed some light on this? Am I just anxious about it or something like that?
I started reading through the intro and getting started threads, and looking forward to learning more from you guys. Hopefully I'll have a REAL LD sometime soon. I'm super excited to have started this journey.
