Gypsie saying hi
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum so I thought I'd introduce myself before posting any further:
I'm a 29 year old female from Belgium and I am "investigating" my dreams and dream patterns for the last 15 years. I also took several courses in dream related subjects and
I have an (almost) excelent dream recall abillity.
About 5 years ago I started to learn about dream awareness and dream controll, my first 'success' with this occured after about a week of practice with the reality check method. However, for me every experience ended up in a nightmare or a very frightening dream awaking. I also started to have the typical dream paralasys (waking up and not being able to move) more frequent then before. Since I didn't manage to controll, or work passed all these, I gave up on it.
I'm thinking about taking this up again though...
My absolute favorite is Hypnagogic Imagery. I remember having it every day since I was a small child in all varieties: images, faces, voices, sounds, smells, etc... and I find this the most interesting part about the whole dream aray. Eventually I learned how to controlI it and work with it and I still achieve this state every day, fully conscious and sometimes for hours, before eventually loosing my focus and fall asleep.
There been times that I mixed it up with spirituality or paranormal phenomena in an attempt to understand what exactly I was doing... I used it as a form of meditation... attempted astral travel and OBE thought this state (with the guidance of a mentor)... etc. Well, I'm sure some people in my environment thought I was suffering from some kind of mental illness at times, lol
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag or anything... I'm just a person who has been experimenting a lot, for good and for worse, in a search for knowledge and understanding. I like to know what is "outside the box".
I hope that by reading and maybe discussing here I can expand my knowledge and most of all, my experiences
(and I hope no one is bothered by my occasional typo's, I know they sneak in my posts every now and then, but English is not my native language :))
Take care all
Gypsie

Hello
HELLO GYPSIE!!!!!! :welcome:
You think down a very similar road as I do. My avatar used to have a box with, "Think" outside of it.
Anyway I too am very blessed to have vivid hynogogic imagery. I try to use in to induce lucid dreams.
There is a HIT - hynagogic imagaery technique in the Tutorials
You may find a ton of interest things to venture into!
PM the staff with any questions. :)

Hey there, it's so great to have you here! I also think alot along the same lines as you. ;)
I love hypnogogic imagery, and experimenting with trying to astral project and have OBEs, though I've been unsuccessful with the latter thus far. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. :)

Hi Nina and thanks for your reply :)
Wow, seems like a lot of people here are trying to have ap or obe's. What I am missing on these boards though is a guideline on how to perceive your astral self.
I mean, to be able to ap you need to adopt a certain paradigm, next you need to have a good idea about astral energies, maybe even (depending on your adopted paradigm) learn about ways to protect yourself if something should go wrong....
Dreaming is one thing but actually going astral isn't childsplay...anyone who says it is completely safe doesn't know what he's doing...
good luck with it though
