I'm a New Person.

Hi, newbie here.

Basic stats on me? 22-year-old physics major, female, single and planning to stay that way (no offense to any cool guys on here, friendships are good too). Religion-wise, born-again Christian; ethnically, German.

Had my first lucid dream before I can remember... Didn't know that it wasn't common to know that you were dreaming while asleep until a few years ago. Happens for me at least once a week if I'm not too tired to become lucid (is this true for the rest of you--being over-tired prevents lucidity?).

At any rate, lately I've been more aware of this strange phenomenon, and been experimenting with various things while dreaming--moving objects, changing scenes, transporting myself to a different location in the same world, and lately things like creating objects.

An interesting experience I had was last year when I dreamed of talking to my younger sister. She lives 900 miles away and hadn't contacted me in months. I told her to contact me when we both woke up (so this was technically semi-lucid since I probably didn't realize at the time that generally other people in your dream are of your own construction). Lo and behold, I got an e-mail from her the next morning. Probably a coincidence, since she didn't have any dreams the past night (or remember them, anyway). Still, rather an interesting thing to think about.

At any rate... let's see. Typical lucid dream last night just consisted of my exploring my college dorm. Generally this is an interesting thing to do because I'm still working on being able to walk through walls (this consists of my imagining the wall is not solid, and half the time that becomes reality) and it's neat to see what's in my version of my dorm-mate's rooms!

In addition to lucid dreams I often experience what I call "nightmares" in which I'm often aware that I'm dreaming, though not always. Generally they involve violence and mayhem of all sorts, especially war. I've gotten used to these, though; and the fear involved is generally only an adrenaline rush now. Being able to take control of a nightmare is one of the more interesting things I've done; because it allows for truly amazing "plots". More than one of my bits of writing (I like short stories and am getting into novels) has been based on such a dream.

I've only been here properly a few days myself, (actually, I have yet to fully leave and go back home, if I stay here any longer I'm going to claim my hammock and parking space :wink: ) Lol! Anyway, trust me, you'll love this place, everyone is great! :D

Very interesting dreams, you seem to have a knack for this which is good. Prophetic dreams are very strange and I'm amazed to see another writer here. I once read an amazing book in a dream that I thought an aquaintance of mine had written (since she's a published author), but when I woke up I found out that she'd never written such a thing and that I'd given for the whole thing to someone else when it was mine! Writing a book in your sleep, thats gotta be a new one! :shock:

Lol. Walking through walls is my thing, something I'm able to do that more regularly than I am flying or teleporting. If you want any tips or advice on that, I'd enjoy discussing them with you.

lol at planning to stay single...i said that, and then the minute i turned my back, WHAM. There's no accounting for attraction!

Permanently tired...i work shifts, so it sometimes screws me around! Probably why i don't have many lucid dreams!

This reminds me of something that happened to me and my other half the other day. I'd fallen asleep on his lap (well, semi) I had a song going round in my head within the beginnings of a dream. I soon woke up, before the dream ended. I said to him 'i've just had this song going round in my head'
He had been awake the whole time, and promptly told me he had the exact same song going round in his head too! Explain that...
sounds like the beginning of dreamsharing to me...

I'm actually a funny sort of German: When I started school at six years old, my mom took me and my sister to America. So I'm still German, but have lived in America since childhood. My English is actually a bit better than my German now... :oops:

And you can't forget the schnitzel... and the dumplings... and the stollen... and... oh, goodness, the cakes, how could you even thinkabout forgetting the cakes!

Hmm, my mouth is watering; I need to get some of my grandma's cooking now...

We're all immigrants--my grandma came to America first, then my mom and me about twenty years later--so I wouldn't even have to fly to Germany to do it!

I don't know if I can call myself experienced, actually... I'm kinda like the kid who's got a good voice but never had lessons... all talent, no training, and won't ever make it onstage if she doesn't figure out how to use her diaphragm....

It's weird--like I've had a lot of lucid dreams; but I don't know what can be done with them, the theory behind things, or any of the techniques I read about here. I've read about dreams from a scientific perspective, but not really from any other viewpoint--I don't really even know the ideas that psychology has on dream interpretation (I think that's starting to be outdated now, but I know it used to be a big thing when psychoanalyzing someone).

Generally, I'm just interested because it's fun, and because I'd like to learn... I suppose I could call it "balance" or "centeredness" or something of that sort. Self-control? Hmm. I guess you get what I mean--the ability to enjoy life and handle its problems without having to go to extremes.
