Hello, I'm new to dreamviews!

Hello everybody, I'm new to dreamviews! I am super excited to begin my lucid dreaming journey, but I have some questions.

OK, so I've been researching lucid dreaming for a couple months now (bits and pieces here and there cuz of school), and I have heard mixed things about which technique is best for beginners.

1.)So, which technique is best for a beginner like me, with no LDs yet? FILD? MILD? DILD? WILD? Btw, I know what they all are.

1b.) What is the difference between MILD and DILD. They seem so similar, and I've read conflicting articles.

2.) Is using a voice recorder just as good as a journal to record dreams? I used to use a journal, but now it takes too long to write it all down. I voice record the whole dream, and then write a brief summary.

3.) I read an article here today about ADA. What do you guys think about ADA?

I have had a total of 5 lucid dreams recently, 3 of which have been from the past 3 days. I usually go to bed initially using MILD then wake up 5 hours later with an alarm (WBTB- Wake Back To Bed) and try to do a WILD. This has given me lucid dreams 3 days in a row so far. Even if you fail at WILD it still increases your chances of having a lucid because a lot of the time you end up thinking about it in your dreams and become lucid. By the way when doing WBTB combined with WILD only stay awake for a few minutes and don't use any electronics as this can mess it up. During the few minutes you are awake write down a few details about the dreams you have had in a journal so you can remember then later on when you wake up for the day. This is a strategy I have heard from other people and it works well for me. It can be used by beginners and is not hard. Also writing in a journal is better that using a voice recorder because it takes more time and you have to focus more on what you are writing. As for ADA I haven't had much experience with it but it can be overwhelming especially at first. If you want to try it then start with a few minutes a few times a day doing ADA and build up from there.

1) It's hard to say without knowing your sleeping patterns. If you wake up naturally during the night a lot, probably a WILD-based technique (WILD, DEILD or FILD) would be best. If you're good at daily awareness and doing reality checks, a DILD-based technique (DILD or MILD) is best. Personally, I got started having quality lucid dreams by using a technique called SSILD, which is good for training you to have the mindset and awareness needed for the other techniques. 1b) DILD is a large category of lucid dreams - whenever you start out in a normal dream and become lucid (usually by realizing something's off and RCing), that's a DILD (the opposite would be a WILD, where you go straight from being awake into a dream while maintaining your awareness and thus instantly knowing you're dreaming). MILD is a technique used to cause these DILDs by making you more aware of your surroundings and thus helping you realize when you're actually in a dream. It's the most common method for DILD, hence why they're so closely tied together.

2) A voice recorder is fine. As long as you're engaging your mind to remember what you experienced in the dream, any recall method is good - even drawing pictures of your dreams.

3) I've heard of a lot of people that have had success with ADA, but most people complain that it's a ton of work and often incredibly exhausting. That's why I personally use a similar technique called Mindfulness. If I were to quickly describe the difference between ADA and mindfulness, I'd say that ADA makes you focus externally on things like the world around you, while Mindfulness makes you focus internally on things like how your clothes feel against your skin or the weight of gravity pulling you down.
