Hi! <(^-^)>
Hi im Kali! I have been "trying" to lucid dream since summer. When I first started I tried super hard and it was all I ever thought about. But after 2 weeks I thought that it wasn't real because I still haven't been able to do it. I tried on and off until just 3 days ago when my friend says that she loves to lucid dream and that it was a real thing... So I decided to try again and maybe this time be successful! I have tried every technique, every essential oil, every website and nothing has worked. So maybe y'all could share how you got your first lucid dreams in the comments below. I did manage to have 2 lucid dreams but I was little and it was only to wake myself up from a nightmare.

Welcome to the forum!
You got a lot of good advice in your other thread over here, but I'll just kinda reiterate what the general sentiment over there is. Just like you don't instantly become great at tennis from learning a good serve technique, you don't instantly become great at lucid dreaming without practice just from a technique. Lucidity isn't just a checklist of actions that you perform to get lucid - it's more of a mindset that the techniques are helping you set, which takes time.
All the techniques on this website are proven to work given enough dedication and practice, but it often takes different amounts of time for different people. So pick one technique (I'd recommend MILD for starting out) and stick with it for at least a few weeks. Really, the only reason you should switch techniques is if you find your current technique doesn't fit with your lifestyle (i.e. doing WBTB makes you incredibly tired and unable to function at work or school), not because you're not getting results as quickly as you'd like.
If you'd like, feel free to stop by the IRC chat if you want to discuss any of it. And let us know if you have any other questions.

Be patient. Use a dream journal, try different techniques :D

Hi and welcome to DreamViews! Lucid dreaming can take time, as it took me 6-7 months just to have my first one. It all depends on the person. Like Spellbee2 said, it would be better just to stick with MILD. I also recommend DILD. Those two are the easiest especially for beginners. Never give up and good luck!

Wow thats a long time! Were u doing dream journals and reality checks everyday or were you doing it on and off

Funny thing is I had a similar experience. Wanted to try because I wasn't sure if it was real, tried hard for about two weeks, then gave up. Than out of the blue, after I gave up,I had a lucid. After that,I just actually started posting in the forums, and trying to learn from others instead of teach myself alone. Won't say it was my first LD,because my very first lucid dreams were when I were younger, and would pee on myself in bed, because Lucid,I was at the bathroom. Lol,though it taught me to not pee on myself. Didn't know it was A lucid, until I actually had one as an adult though.

The reason it took me so long was because I wasn't really putting much effort into lucid dreaming overall. I did DJ and RCs but was doing it on and off. There were many times when I forgot about lucid dreaming and then there were times where I really focused and tried (the times I really focused and tried, I actually did have lucid dreams). So if I had actually put effort into it everyday, then I'm sure I'd have a ton more lucid dreams by now.
