Lucid or Not?
Apparently I hit "Cancel" instead of "Submit," so I'm going to try to remember what I wrote the first time...
I had a puzzling experience last night, and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on it for me. I'm not sure if I had a lucid dream or if I was merely dreaming I was lucid, if that makes sense.
Here's the excerpt from my journal:
I was in my bed just as it had been when I went to sleep. The TV was still on, and besides the outside light, it was the only light in the room. My daughter was still asleep in her crib, at least, I assumed she was. Then the thought occured to me that I should do a reality check. I looked at my clock, and it said it was 4 something in the morning, but when I looked back at it, it said it was 2:30. I said, outloud I think, "Hey! I did it! I'm dreaming!" And then I felt a vibration in my hand. I looked down, and it was my cell phone--but it was my old one, and it was larger than it is in real life. I was thrown by the fact that it was my old cell phone, but I looked at it, and it was lit up like someone was calling, but I couldn't read anything on the screen. I could see black shapes there like letters, but even an inch from my face I couldn't make out any of them--it was like I was looking at them from far away without my glasses on. And then when I looked into the phone again, I saw my reflection in the phone, and then I saw it change to a smaller, impish face cackling manically. I woke up then, and the first thing I did was look at the clock to see what time it really was (2:31, I believe).
So what do you guys think? Was this a real attempt to be lucid or merely the result of some latenight article-reading? Anyone else have an experience like this?

I think its lucid, as you were aware you were dreaming, but im only a beginner so im not 100% sure

I'm a newbie too, but it seems to me that it was a lucid dream indeed.

*nods* Yep, lucid as it gets. Me, I wouldn't have recognized the fact that it was my old phone... my dreams seem to take me back in time to teenagerhood way too often.

Yep. That was lucid :D Next time it happens, fix that notion that you are in fact dreaming in your mind and you won't revert back to a normal dream as fast. Keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming and once you feel that you're relatively stable, go and have fun.
Nice job!

Thanks, guys. I feel like I accomplished something--now let's see if I can make it last a little longer next time!
